I haven't always have the best relationship with my dad (he wasn't abusive or anything we just had our problems) we went to therapy and figured it out.

When I try something I fail at it hurts that's why I always try again even harder then last time.Even if I still don't do it to the point I'm happy with I still learn something and at least I know I tried.
