Locke also says that if the government does not uphold the three natural rights, the people have the right to overthrow them.

He influenced Thomas Jefferson, who was one of the founding fathers. This is partly who Jefferson had in mind when drafting the Declaration of Independence. Locke's ideas are what shaped the New World and helped people shape the old one. They realized that they were being oppressed and needed a new form of government.
