On the top of the camera there is a dial that has every setting for the lens. the one I did was the s Which meant Shutter priority. You change the shutter speed by scrolling a dial and changing the time or the shutter speed. 

When I change the shutter speeds from low to high the images went from really bright to dark. Then blurry to crisp. You move scroll the dial to change the shutter speed.

You would want to use shutter priority in situations were you wan to see a smooth and fluid picture that looks like it has movement.
