The makers of the ship didn't put in enough life boats because it didn't look good, and they thought it would never sink. It was the first ship to have electric elevators and a swimming pool. The Titanic was 882 feet 6 inches in length and 175 feet tall. The rudder alone was 78 feet 8 inches tall and 15 feet 3 inches long, weighing more than 100 tons. The RMS in the name stands for Royal Mail Ship.

The Titanic hit the iceberg right before midnight on April 14. They said that the ship would not ever sink but then it hit an iceberg and filled the basement of the boat and then it sank and some people survived and some did not. A sailor sent a telegram to the Russian liner, Birma. It said "we have struck iceberg sinking fast come to our assistance". They were about 375 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada.
