Negative spaces and blind contour were new concepts to me. I really enjoyed attempting these techniques as they were interesting and challenging. I found the blind contour the most difficult as I had to let go of control over my work and trust the process which I find difficult sometimes.  I found the contour to be a challenge for me as I found it difficult to create the contour lines in a way that flowed well together. This took me a few attempts in pencil, I then decided to try pen as it was something more familiar to me and I think that worked better. This relates to my future in design as it allows me to get comfortable with more than one medium while drawing, which in turn allows me to be a versatile designer. If I was to start this week again I would pay more attention to detail and try to use charcoal in more of my drawings as that is a medium I’d like to explore.

I really enjoyed this week’s lesson as I am excited to expand my drawing techniques. Scribbling has quickly become one of my favourite techniques as it's messy and expressive. While attempting the scale, in beginning I found it difficult to do the scale as I stated too dark making it hard to create a scale effect. I learnt that it is better to start the scale from lighter to darker, I will apply this technique next time. While attempting describing volume task, I found it challenging to draw in pencil. To overcome this challenged I took my time and focused on one small section at a time. This will relate to my future design practices as it is extremely important to understand tone and shading in digital and drawing design. This week was very interesting to me as Frottage was a new concept that I really enjoyed creating. I found Frottage difficult in the beginning as my paper was too thick and my pencil was to light. So, I switched to thinner paper and charcoal, this worked really well in the end. Creating texture was challenging for me as it involves lots of small details. My small detail skills is something I’m wanting improve so seeing the all the small details in texture worried me. I overcome this challenged by making sure I took my time and I used pen which is the medium I’m most comfortable using. This relates to my future in design as I will be working with many different textures that I will need to be comfortable recreating.
