What are the pros for using technology in teaching and learning?

1. Encourages and builds confidence in individual learning. When students have these educational learning apps that tend to get more involved. Once they’re involved, they tend to get the hang of the material and start becoming more independent on answering the question.

2. Using technology is more efficient in today’s day and time. Parent-teacher communication is sometimes easier for them if the parents are working and can’t answer the phone. Or if a student is sick the teacher can always shoot the parent and email or post it on the school app. (Like Class Dojo or google classroom) That way the student can’t get behind and can do the work without coming to the school to pick it up.

3. Preparing student for the “real world” is by using technology early in school. Some students don’t know how to attach a picture to an email. Using technology early in school will help students for their future even for a job. Most job interviews are going to ask you how much knowledge you have on a computer. Using technology in school will help students communicate about their class work, problem solve and prepare them for the future.

1. Using excessive amount of screen times can be harsh for students. Students using too much screen time can lead to bad eyesight, obesity and depression. That’s a big deal with adding technology to classrooms that students will be spending even more time on devices than they already do. Misusing the devices like using social media or messaging friends can lead to negative behavior such as harassment, bullying, depression or even suicide. (That’s why teachers and parents should limit screen time and monitor devices.)

2. NO internet access in homes. Most every school lets students bring their laptops home after school. Especially with the Covid Pandemic students had to have their computers to do their classes. I don’t think its fair for the students that don’t have internet access. They may not can afford internet or their parents may not care. It’s just hard on those kids because they must miss out on the technology used in their classes.

3. The lacking face-to-face socializing usually occurs when students spend way too much time on devices. When students have this problem, they will struggle with real word communication. Using tech devices help students work together, access more information and connect them to the real world. Students tend to struggle in social skills and real-life conversation when using too much technology. Again, limiting screen time is important for you now and later on down the road.
