         <description><![CDATA[<p>This red dot was found on all of the Japanese planes that attacked pearl harbor. In Japan Hinomaru translates to "rising sun".  The dot was a representation of hope and renewal in Japanese culture.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>While the Japanese were on their way to Pearl Harbor, they flew through the mountains to hide from the U.S.'s radar. Radar was still new to the world so it was not very reliable or strong. If we had had strong reliable radar we may have been able to see them coming and be some what prepared.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Aichi D3A was one of the models of planes the Japanese used in the attack on Pearl harbor. 51 of the 353 planes used were Aicha D3As. The job of the Aichi D3As was to drop bombs an a specific target, also called a dive bomber.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Franklin Van Valkenburgh was the captain of the USS Arizona. During the very beginning of the attack Valkenburgh was seen directing the ships defense. He was hit by a shrapnel and refused to be carried to safety.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This is a picture of one of the radar systems at Pearl Harbor. Privates Joseph Lockard and George Elliot were on this radar at the time before the attack. They first detected airplanes at 7:02am, and followed them until 7:40 until the signal was lost. Then at 7:55 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.</p>]]></description>
