My mom was long gone by the time I was six and I was swirling around the planet, parading under one roof after another. I’ve lived in thirty one homes, sleeping on floors, couches and beds always believing that each story wasn’t the last but instead a piece of a much larger adventure. I wrote a story in the first grade that won a little award and I read up to four books a week in my teens. By twenty or so, I had found the world of spoken word and toured the country competing and writing and relishing the community that our stories can curate. I fell into TV work and now help a myriad of folks share their stories in ways that I hope resonates with the millions who watch. Social Work for me is a bit of the same, giving the floor to those who need to find some craft in their confession, so that we all get to have a little light shone down on who we are…so we feel a little less alone.
