I remember when I started as a DIR at ENDES while founding LNES, and you were one of the teachers that always made sure to talk to me and ask me how things were going with the plans at Linden El. I remembered your kindness from way back then and was very excited when I learned I would work w/you this year. I truly appreciate how you always show up, as your full self. That's pretty inspiring. I wish you peace and blessings on your on-going journey.

Oh how I've missed seeing your face all the time. You are truly one of my most favorite people and educators on the planet. You are kind, you are hilarious, you are thoughtful, you are genuine. I have learned so much from you, and alongside you and I feel so fortunate that I was able to call you my colleague for so long, and my friend for life. You have certainly left your mark on AF, and your impact will be felt for decades to come at NBPES, ENDES, and at the network at large. I love you, I miss you, and I'm still waiting for you to move into my basement and take care of my children.

I remember the first time I met you. It was about 7 years ago during All Leader Training. I was still working in Bridgeport and was about to go into my first-year teaching 3^rd grade math. I came with our math dean/my coach at the time to the ALT math sessions and who was leading 3^rd grade math… YOU! Your sessions left me feeling inspired and so excited about math.

Fast forward 2 years later when I started teaching at Endeavor… we met again. Over the next couple of years, the stranger I was first inspired by 2 summers prior, would become my coach, cheerleader, and friend. The excitement you left me with after attending your sessions in ALT years before was the same excitement you brought to learning at Endeavor. You were always pushing me and our team to make sure that critical and creative thinking were embedded in all our math lessons. With your coaching and support, you changed the quality of lessons we were providing for our kids – lessons that once promoted procedural thinking and memorization were transformed into high quality lessons that had our scholars learning math through exploration and investigation. The success we have experienced at Endeavor in our upper elementary school math program over the last 5 years can be attributed greatly to you and your leadership.

I have missed seeing your face at work the past 3 years but have so many great memories of our time at ENDES together – whether it was coming into my classroom with Tommy to sing happy birthday to kiddos at the complete wrong time or our coaching meetings that always ended with us giving each other blunt personal advice – there are so many times that we had together that will always make me smile.

I wish you the best of luck in your new chapter. Keep in touch!

Thank you for being a true partner to me and NBPMS over the years. Becoming a principal was so scary; doing it alongside you has always brought me a sense of ease. Knowing you always had my back has been a huge source of comfort. I will forever appreciate your advice, your commiseration, and your humor. NBP is a better place because of your impact.

Over the years we've spent a bunch of time together in different contexts and it's been really awesome to see you grow as a leader and a person. Peter, what a ride we've had together. You have been an incredible partner, leader, role model, and friend. I couldn't possibly imagine doing this work with anyone else and feel so lucky to have grown and learned from you. You are kind, caring, funny, honest, a great listener, reflective, selfless, and just a good person. Most of all, you lead incredibly inspiring PD sessions in Baltimore.

I can't possibly thank you enough for your friendship and support - and always know, it has been a honor and privilege to be by your side every step of the way. What a fun ride it's been. So excited to see what's next.

I don't think words can express the profound impact you've had on me, our school, our kids and families, as an educator, leader, and person - I truly do not think I would be the person I am today without your guidance and support. I remember finding out our class would be the University of Hawaii and being obsessed with all things Hawaii, thought "how perfect is this". Thank you for making my first years as an educator such memorable ones. I will always remember the jokes, smiles, joy, and love you brought to the classroom anytime you were in it. I'll also never forget your obsession with all things King (when he becomes a professional artist I'll commission a piece from him for you) or someone yelling "21" in that voice during your TCP and afterwards you swearing you'd never give another problem with the answer of 21 again.

I picked up so many great teacher moves and best practices watching you be a master of your craft. I was so fortunate to have you as a co-teacher and to have you as a coach, it was a true double-bonus. You constantly pushed me to be my best and always pushed for the math team to keep things conceptual. I've gotten to pass along many of those moves and best practices to teachers in Newark, so not only have you had a profound impact on our kids in Brooklyn, both at Endeavor and NBP, but your presence has been felt all the way in Newark as well!

Whether you were my co-teacher, coach, or we were at different schools or networks, I will always be able to call you a friend. Thank you for being an incredible person to be around, always making those around you better. I've missed getting to see you and joking around on a daily basis but always know I appreciate you and everything you've done for me, our kids and families! Best of luck in your future endeavors

Peter, one thing that will always stand out to me about your leadership is the authentic way you spread love and kindness throughout our halls. No joke, NBP became very many degrees warmer simply because of who you are. Teachers knew they could expect a Peter hug during an LT observation. Kids always saw you smile. Leaders knew to expect a (cheesy) warmer to get our meetings started, LOL. Thank you for remaining true to you, even in times of challenge and uncertainty.

I'll be waiting on that Playbook. Thanks.

My fellow peloton loving friend! In my time as a principal you have been WITH me. I remember when we had in person cohort... feels like forever ago and practicing hooks to PD with you. I was able to learn from you during those first few months when I was in sheer panic/confusion. Fast forward.... we became midday phone call besties. I am ALWAYS here for a midday call from you for a laugh, joke or conundrum. Keep doing that for me next year <3

Peter! I am so happy for you and the journey you are about to take in the next step of your career. I am also grateful for the journey we had together, starting with your awesome syllable clapping lesson in Virginia Tech 10 years ago. Of the many things I have loved about with working with you, it was the perspective you brought to tricky situations, and the way you were able to see things out of the AF vacuum. You were, and are, always a voice of reason. One thing I have always admired about you as an educator is your willingness to take on new things. You have had EVERY ROLE, given all to every role, and have gained such a balanced view of the whole elementary system because of that. I have no doubt that you will continue to do amazing things. Peter - thank you for everything that you have done for the kids and staff of both Endeavor Elementary and North Brooklyn Prep Elementary. You have brought so much joy and laughter throughout the years - from toilet paper races on day 1 of school to pies in your face during Crescendo to all kinds of crazy shenanigans with Mr. Roth. Ha! :)

The amount of ups and downs we've had through the years is high (remember when you told me 5 years into our relationship that you didn't want to go by Pete!?) but I have always felt loved and supported by you. Because that's the type of person that you are. Thank you for bringing love and joy and warmth to everything you do.

Peter! I am truly struggling with words here. Because I have almost nothing good to say! (Humor is my coping mechanism ok?).

I feel so immensely lucky to have had you as my leader and principal the last 3 years. From the time I met you, the one thing that has shone through is your care. You genuinely care about people: our kids, our families, our staff. That care and love is now part of the fabric of our school. I know it will serve you well in your next role. I just wish you cared as much about listening to my skincare tips.

I do have to say....a highlight of taking on my role this was our relationship (like I told you I told Ryan..he maybe should have felt threatened by how much we talked at a certain point). Your ability to build trusting relationships is something else I know will serve you well in the future. I'm still really sad I won't get to do this with you anymore (because it's all about me!!), but I am so excited to see what you do next and continue to harass you regularly.

Thank you for everything you've done for our school and for me. I am so immensely grateful you've come into my life.
