Well, I say to them tonight, there’s not a liberal American and a conservative American—there’s the United States of America.” (Pg #9) Though Obama wants to unite the American people into one, which could possibly tangle on the idea of conformity within itself, he mentions the group of people arguing against him, or the Republican Party. The ideas that those people have were typically in favor of a less United nation, however, Obama doesn’t conform to their idea of what America should be. Instead, he invites Americans to want unity without division and discrimination alongside him.
