         <description><![CDATA[<div>My favourite innovation is paper. It took 3000 years after the invention of writing before people were able to make paper. It was first made in 100 BC China during the Han Dynasty. In 105 AD, it was officially announced as the World's first paper. Ts'ai&nbsp; Lun was the first person to make paper. He used finely chopped mulberry bark and hemp rags with water, smashing it flat and then pressing out the water and letting it dry in the sun. The idea was based on a cloth called bark cloth which was very common in China and also made from mulberry bark. It was a huge success and was used all over China.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;My favourite innovation is the baby stroller. The baby stroller was invented in 1733 by an English architect, William Kent. It was actually designed for the 3rd duke of Devonshire's children and was basically a child's version of a horse-drawn carriage. This invention became popular with upper-class families. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The initial baby stroller had spring suspension for comfort. By the mid-1800s, later designs substituted handles for parents or nannies to pull the carriage rather than using an animal to carry it. It was typical for these to be forward-facing, like many baby strollers in modern times. The child's view, however, would be of the rear end of the person doing the pulling. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Later on, a toy manufacturer Benjamin Potter Crandall marketed the first baby carriages manufactured in America in the 1830s. His son Jesse Armour Crandall received patents for many improvements that included a brake, a folding model and parasols to shade the child. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; In addition, American Charles Burton invented the push design for the baby carriage in 1848. Now parents didn't have to be draft animals anymore and instead can push the forward-facing carriage from behind. The carriage was still shaped like a shell. It wasn't popular in the United States, but he was able to patent it in England and later became what was known as the pram.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;African American inventor William H. Richardson patented an improvement to the baby carriage in the United States on June 18, 1889. His design ditched the shell shape for a basket-shaped carriage that was more symmetrical.The bassinet could be positioned to face either out or in and rotated on a central joint. A limiting device kept it from being rotated more than 90 degrees. The wheels also moved independently, which made it more maneuverable. Now a parent could have the child face them or face away from them, whichever they preferred.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The use of prams or baby carriages became widespread among all economic classes by the 1900s. Impoverished mothers were even given prams by charitable institutions. Improvements were made in the construction and safety of modern prams.          <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; My favourite innovation is the toilet bowl.The first modern flushable toilet was made by Sir John Harington in 1596. Before the first modern toilet bowl, there were only primitive latrines that used a constant stream of water to carry away waste. These old latrines dated back at least 5,000 years ago. Early toilet systems were also utilized by the several ancient civilizations.          <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;My favourite innovation is the light bulb.The first light bulb was invented in&nbsp;<br>1879 by the famous Thomas Alva Edison.In 1878, Thomas Edison began serious research into developing a practical incandescent lamp and on October 14, 1878, Edison filed his first patent application for "Improvement In Electric Lights". However, he continued to test several types of material for metal filaments to improve upon his original design and by Nov 4, 1879, he filed another U.S. patent for an electric lamp using "a carbon filament or strip coiled and connected ... to platina contact wires."<br><br></div><div>Although the patent described several ways of creating the carbon filament including using "cotton and linen thread, wood splints, papers coiled in various ways," it was not until several months after the patent was granted that Edison and his team discovered that a carbonized bamboo filament could last over 1200 hours.<br><br></div><div>This discovery marked the beginning of commerically manufactured light bulbs and in 1880, Thomas Edison’s company, Edison Electric Light Company begain marketing its new product.<br>&nbsp;<br><br>Source: <strong><mark>Wikipedia</mark></strong><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;My favorite innovation is the whiteboard. According to one account, whiteboards were invented by Martin Heit, a photographer and Korean War veteran. When he accidentally marked a photographic negative with a marker and tried to wipe it off, he realized the marker ink came off very easily. He created a whiteboard with a laminate similar to that found on photographic negatives. The night before he was set to unveil his invention at a trade show, his prototype was destroyed by a fire. Rather than create another prototype, he sold his patent to Dri-Mark.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Whiteboards became commercially available in the early 1960s, but did not become widely used until 40 years later. Early whiteboards needed to be wiped with a damp cloth and markers had a tendency to leave marks behind, even after erasing the board. Dry-erase markers for whiteboards were invented in 1975.&nbsp; Whiteboards started becoming commonly used by businesses in the early 1990s. They became more common in classrooms during the 1990s due to concerns over health problems in children with dust allergies and the potential for chalk dust to damage computers. By the late 1990s, about 21% of American classrooms had converted from chalkboards to whiteboards.<br>The first whiteboards were very expensive and were made of an enameled steel. Cheaper versions were then produced, including laminated chipboard, high-pressure laminates and steel boards with a white, usually polyester or acrylic, coating. Enameled whiteboards, also referred to as porcelain, and sometimes glass boards, have the advantage that markings can be erased completely; other materials tend to become stained over time. Enameled boards are more expensive and less used in commercial environments, but in more demanding environments with heavier use, such as educational establishments, porcelain boards are considered superior.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Other types of dry marker boards are also available, such as high gloss vinyl and coated paper, which can be rolled up, high-density two-part high gloss paints, glass and coated acrylics and polypropylene magic whiteboards which use static electricity to cling to walls, windows, and doors.<br>&nbsp;Clear marker surfaces, made of glass or specially coated acrylic, became available around the mid 2000s They are generally manufactured from technical glass, e.g. for monitor screen filters, which is optically coated.<br><br></div><div><strong>Source</strong><em>:</em><strong><mark>&nbsp; </mark></strong><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whiteboard"><strong><mark>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whiteboard&nbsp;</mark></strong></a></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My favourite innovation is paper because it created many other inventions.<br>How paper was invented<br>   Since the <a href="https://quatr.us/west-asia/cuneiform-mesopotamia-west-asian-writing.htm">invention of writing</a>, people had been trying to come up with something easier to write on than <a href="https://quatr.us/africa/papyrus-ancient-egypt.htm">papyrus</a> or <a href="https://quatr.us/literature-2/parchment-history-books.htm">parchment</a>, and also something easier and cheaper to make. But it took 3000 years to come up with paper! Paper was invented around <a href="https://quatr.us/romans/empires-timeline-500-bc-jesus.htm">100 BC</a> in China. In 105 <a href="https://quatr.us/science/what-does-a-d-mean.htm">AD</a>, under the <a href="https://quatr.us/history/silk-road-scholars-han-dynasty-china.htm">Han Dynasty</a> emperor Ho-Ti, a government official in China named Ts’ai Lun was the first to start a paper-making industry.<br><br></div><div><strong>How Ts’ai Lun made paper<br></strong><br></div><div>Ts’ai Lun seems to have made his paper by mixing finely chopped mulberry bark and <a href="https://quatr.us/china/hemp-cloth-chinese-clothing.htm">hemp rags</a> with water, mashing it flat, and then pressing out the water and letting it dry in the <a href="https://quatr.us/physics/whats-sun-made-astronomy-science.htm">sun</a>. He may have based his idea on bark cloth, which was very common in China and also made from mulberry bark. Ts’ai Lun’s paper was a big success, and began to be used all over China. With paper available, <a href="https://quatr.us/china/medieval-chinese-religion-buddhism-comes-china.htm">Buddhist monks</a> in China began to work on ways of mass-producing prayers. By <a href="https://quatr.us/islam/early-medieval-world-history-timeline-400-800-ad.htm">650 AD</a> they were <a href="https://quatr.us/china/history-printing-movable-type.htm">block-printing</a> prayers.<br><br></div><div><strong>Paper reaches Japan, Korea, and Iran<br></strong><br></div><div><figure class="attachment attachment--preview"><img src="https://quatr.us/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/mingdynastyplayingcard.jpg" width="100" height="238"><figcaption class="attachment__caption"></figcaption></figure>An early playing card (Ming Dynasty, ca. 1500 AD)</div><div><br></div><div>Even after people in China began to use paper, it took another thousand years before people were using paper all over Eurasia. By the <a href="https://quatr.us/islam/early-medieval-world-history-timeline-400-800-ad.htm">400s AD</a>, people in <a href="https://quatr.us/history/gupta-period-india-ancient-india.htm">India</a> were also making paper, and by the 600s paper had reached Korea and <a href="https://quatr.us/history/yamato-period-early-medieval-japan.htm">Japan</a> too. With the expansion of the Islamic Empire into Pakistan about 700 AD, people in the <a href="https://quatr.us/history/abbasids-medieval-islamic-history.htm">Abbasid Caliphate</a> also began to use paper. For the traders of the <a href="https://quatr.us/central-asia/silk-road.htm">Silk Road</a>, paper had a big advantage: it absorbed ink, so you couldn’t erase it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>My favourite invention is the air conditioner<br><br>The air conditioner was created <strong>Willis Carrier<br></strong><br>In 1902, the first electrical air conditioning unit was invented by&nbsp; <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willis_Carrier">Willis Carrier</a> in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo,_New_York">Buffalo, New York</a>.&nbsp;</div><div>After graduating from <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornell_University">Cornell University</a>, Carrier found a job at the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_Forge_Company">Buffalo Forge Company</a>. While there, he began experimenting with air conditioning as a way to solve an application problem for the Sackett-Wilhelms Lithographing and Publishing Company in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooklyn,_New_York">Brooklyn, New York</a>. The first air conditioner, designed and built in Buffalo by Carrier, began working on 17 July 1902.</div><div>Designed to improve manufacturing <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Process_control">process control</a> in a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printing">printing</a> plant, Carrier's invention controlled not only <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperature">temperature</a> but also <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humidity">humidity</a>. Carrier used his knowledge of the heating of objects with steam and reversed the process. Instead of sending air through hot coils, he sent it through cold coils (filled with cold water). The air was cooled, and thereby the amount of moisture in the air could be controlled, which in turn made the humidity in the room controllable. The controlled temperature and humidity helped maintain consistent paper dimensions and ink alignment. Later, Carrier's technology was applied to increase productivity in the workplace, and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier_Corporation">The Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America</a> was formed to meet rising demand. Cristofori's invention was a simple keyboard. However, over time, he experimented with the instruments' design and the instrument grew popular.&nbsp;<br><br>Although still expensive, pianos were made smaller by the 1760's so that wealthy families could own them in their homes.<br><br>Even today, the piano is widely used around the world by people of different countries.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My favourite invention is the violin.<br>The violin is thought to be invented by Andrea Amati.<br>Violins are likely to have been developed from&nbsp; number of other string instruments&nbsp; of the 15th and 16th centuries, including the vielle, rebec and lira da braccio. While there are records of stringed instruments existing in Europe in the Middle ages, it is thought that the first bowed, string instruments may have originated in Central Asia with instruments such as the morin khuur from Mongolia. These instruments then travelled via trade routes to the other parts of the world. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My favourite invention is Instagram.<br>Instagram is invented by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.<br>This app was released just after midnight on October 6, 2010. Beta users had been signing up for weeks before its release.They crossed 10,000 users within hours. Kevin Systrom estimates that 30 percent of the duo's collective energy was spent keeping the server up in the first weeks of Instagram's life. Kevin Systrom, a Stanford graduate who worked on Google's Gmail and corporate development, spent his weekends building an app that allowed location-aware photo and note-sharing.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My favourite invention is the aeroplane.<br><br><br>The Wright brothers, Orville&nbsp; and Wilbur were two American aviators, engineers, inventors, and aviation pioneers who are generally credited with inventing, building, and flying the world's first successful airplane. They made the first controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier- than- air aircraft on December 17, 1903. In 1904–1905 ,&nbsp; the brothers developed their flying machine into the first practical fixed-wing aircraft. Although they were not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible.</div><div>The brothers' fundamental breakthrough was their invention of three-axis control, which enabled the pilot to steer the aircraft effectively and to maintain its equilibrium.&nbsp; From the beginning of their aeronautical work, the Wright brothers focused on developing a reliable method of pilot control as the key to solving "the flying problem".&nbsp; Using a small home built wind tunnel, the Wrights also collected more accurate data to enable them to design and build wings and propellers that were more efficient than any before.          <description><![CDATA[<div>My favourite invention is the scooter.<br><br>In 1996, a foldable aluminium scooter with inline skates wheels was created by <strong>Wim Ouboter of Micro Mobility Systems and manufactured by JD Corporation.</strong> in Switzerland The scooter was sold as "Micro Skate Scooter", "Razor" and "JDBUG/JDRAZOR MS-130A". When the first Razor scooter was launched in 2000, over 5 million were sold in just the first six months.<br><br>It was invented because Gino Tsai the inventor president of the J.D.
