Hi everyone! My name is Jaidyn Gillespie, and I am from a small town Dillsburg, PA. I earned my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Christian Studies from California Baptist University in Riverside, California! I am a School Counseling Major!

Goals

Professional goals I have for myself to accomplish within the next five years would be; graduating from GMercyU, earning my licensure in the state of Pennsylvania, to become an LPC, becoming a school counselor, and overall becoming the best student and future colleague that I can be!

Why I chose Counseling?

I personally have struggled with Mental Health issues since being in high school and have always been a huge advocate surrounding the subject. I want to be able to let everyone and anyone know that no matter what they are going through they are never alone, but especially kids and teenagers!

California

California is something that will inspire me for the rest of my life. Moving to California by myself right after graduating college was the biggest step into growth that I will ever make. I learned many important lessons there, from the diverse cultures, and how to grow and flourish in a new place. It was the hardest and the best lesson I have ever learned thus far.

Skiing

Skiing is something that has helped me through alot! It's one of the only things that truly make you feel free. It allows me to feel free with my thoughts because it is just me, the snow, and the open slopes. But it is also so enjoyable when going with a group of people you love!

Autism Awareness

I am very passionate about ASD awareness as well as Special Education! Having two cousins within the Autism Spectrum has always been something close to my heart. Speaking up for those who cannot, and supporting them in any way possible. I also spent a majority of my undergraduate conducting a research study of the stigma surrounding ASD and its effects on those within the Spectrum!

Family

My family is the main reason I am pursuing the career that I am. I have three brothers and one sister in law, a wonderful bonus mom and bonus dad! I would not be the woman I am today without their love and support! (little brother isn't in this picture:/)

Internship Work

I completed my practicum at Northern High School in the Spring of 2023, and my first Internship at Camphill High School Fall of 2023. I am now doing my internship at Southeastern Middle School in Fawn Grove, PA. One of my favorite groups that I have assisted running is aevidum which is a mental health support group!
