         <description><![CDATA[<div>The baby begins to adapt to the outside world. There is no voluntary control of the body during the early weeks. The baby sleeps most of the time and does not lack awareness. Sensitive to their surrounding environment.  Crying is their primary method of communicating needs and emotions. Perceptual and Cognitive abilities are difficult to distinguish after the birth. </div>]]></description>

Cooing and babbling begin and represent an important step in the acquisition of language and give-and-take social interaction with others. The skin remains sensitive and easily irritated. Begins moving eyes together in unison (binocular vision).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The swallowing reflex and tongue are still immature; baby continues to drool and is not able to move food to the back of the mouth. Holds the hands in an open or semi-open position much of the time. Movements tend to large and jerky. Raises the head and upper body on the arms when in prone position. Can be pulled to a sitting position, with considerable head lag and rounded back at the beginning of this period. Later, can be positioned to sit with minimal head support.</div>]]></description>

They "talk" all the time, with more variety and complexity of vowel and consonant sounds. Begins to develop teeth, with upper and lower incisors erupting first. Color vision is now manifest. Responds to "no-no" by stopping the activity. Later in this period, the infant might smile, laugh, and resume the inappropriate behavior, thus turning it into a game. </div>]]></description>
