"He knew that when he kissed this girl, and forever wed his unutterable visions to her perishable breath, his mind would never romp again like the mind of God" (Fitzgerald 110).

Remembering what had happened before Gatsby left Daisy to fight in the war, it is stated he would forever be connected to Daisy. Instead of moving close to her, he moved across the bay as to not be noticed. As long as the green light was still shining at the end of her dock, Gatsby knew she was still there. The green light at the end of Daisy's dock was what kept Gatsby connected to her before they met again. Once he and Daisy reconnected, the green light was no longer needed. The light had lost its significance. Gatsby would forever chase her and never be satisfied with anyone but Daisy. Left to his own devices, he sealed his fate.

Tyler Payne

"I could have sworn he was trembling. Involuntary I glanced seaward- and distinguished nothing but a green light, minute and far way, that might have been the end of a dock'' (Fitzgerald 21).

This quote explains how Mr. Gatsby is trying to "reach" the green light at the end of the dock such as Daisy's house.
This "desire" of Gatsby to reach the green light represent how much he want to finally talk and be with Daisy for the rest of his life.

Kate Pineda.

American Dream

Gatsby sees the green light from his dock every night. It is visually close, but distant in reality. The color green symbolizes wealth. He earned his money unjustly, although he earned it to attract Daisy's attention. Daisy is a symbol of a woman of the American Dream. When Gatsby and she find each other again it shows that the American Dream is achievable. The light had now lost its value with Daisy in his grip. The American Dream is possible, whether it is achieved justly or unjustly.

Tyler Payne

One character that align with the green light is Daisy, because it shows how close and far she is from Gatsby, also when the light turns on and off, it can means how Daisy first feels so secure of telling Tom that she is living him, but then when she have an opportunity to tell him, she starts to feels nervous and panic.

Kate Pineda.
