In additional to the advantages this teaching method has, there are also some limitations that need to be considered. A challenge that will be presented for teachers is, that the focal point needs to be encouragement towards discovery; rather than towards direct knowledge (Gill, 2015). This can become a limitation with integrated studies as there are certain requirements which need to be met from each subject. Overall, facilitation is a great way to support meaningful learning to occur during integrated studies.

There are limitations that need to be taken into consideration when preforming brain storming. This method, although successful usually takes time to develop the discussion. Therefore time management needs to be taken into consideration especially if it’s being performed in a large group of students (Teaching Methods, n.d). This method also requires a large amount of facilitation skills to be obtained by the teacher. This could become a limitation if the teacher is yet to have experience in facilitating these types of discussions with students. They may find without this skill students may become distracted or get lead away from the topic. Overall, even though there are limitations present this teaching method, it is fantastic to use with integrated studies as it allows for meaningful learning to occur.
