It's like a tall chimney where all the energy comes from the bottom and gets pulled/blown up to the top. When a lot of energy gathers in one place it creates thunderstorms. In a right part of the ocean, this system can start circulating and can start releasing all the energy into the upper part of the atmosphere. The energy created from the thunderstorms can be added to the whole system and then a tropical cyclone will form.
