I think that Stevenson identified with this story because he is from a small community. This story represents Walter and his community/family because he was innocent for the crime since he was at the fish fry with his family. Ralph Myers accused Walter of committing the crime even though he didn't do anything wrong just like John did in "Of the Coming of John".
2. The state of the world has never made me feel hopeless like this because I don't care about what other people think about me doing something wrong. I think we can change the hope in the hopelessness by just trying to understand what other people are going through. Everyone has different situations that they have been through that make them do things that they probably shouldn't. 2) I have felt the state of the world has made me feel hopeless at times, even though i know how good this world has we have just that same amount as bad too. Its hard to say how to change this because you would have to change everyone view in life, and you cant possibly do that. 2. I have felt that the world is hopeless, and even to this day I fear the world may never change. Everyone experiences a different reality, and I have first hand experienced what it is like to be perceived as "different" to other people. Although some people are openminded and very accepting of others, some are bigoted and uncivil, they could not care less for the well being of others.
