Our district provided mandatory training for staff AND students on digital citizenship. We will continue throughout the year (not just at the beginning) to model and explain the importance of being safe and respectful on ALL platforms. I will continue to tell them why it is important and explain that there can be consequences if they fail to be safe and respectful. Our district tried its best to make technology equitable this year by providing ipads to all students and hotspots to those who did not have internet. While not perfect, I think they have done their best in the middle of a pandemic.

In the classroom:
- I found the "How to Teach Internet Safety to Younger Elementary Students" lesson plan to be very helpful! I plan to show the Internet Safety Video from BrainPOP Jr. to my students at the beginning of the school year to promote good digital citizenship. Then, I will have my students take one of quizzes accompanying the video to check for understanding. Students can act out various scenarios to practice concepts discussed in the video, as well as create an Internet Safety poster to extend their understanding.
In the school:
- I could present a mini PD at one of our upcoming staff meetings on the importance of students and teachers engaging in responsible and professional digital social interaction. I would use the "Resources for Student Digital Citizenship" slide from this session during the PD and also the "How Do You Teach Global Awareness?" slide.

As a media specialist, I am pretty well-versed in the ins and outs of digital citizenship & try to relay that to my students and staff. Our county recently switched to online PD training for staff with social media / digital citizenship which has been a great transition.

To help my upper grade students better understand the permanence of posting on social media sites, I plan to show the video (& others) of kids their ages discussing the effects & the non-necessity of posting everything.

I have utilized some programs that have shown digital citizenship to students. I think it would benefit a school to have teachers and students look at digital citizenship by providing a professional development for teachers. Push for students to take some time to look at digital citizenship to an online program.

As a virtual teacher it is important to teach students the importance of Digital Citizenship. Our school Media Coordinator and Digital Learning Coach helps us to implement this into our classroom. Students are expected to participate in lessons and computer quizzes to show what they have learned about being a great digital citizen. In this training I learned that I can use digital citizenship to include Global Awareness in my classroom. I incorporate it through reading and other lessons never thought to use it with Computer skills as well. By collaborating with teacher in other nations and cultures students can learn to share cultural information and learn about others through digital resources.

Teachers also have to implement Social Emotional Learning lessons (SEL) in their lesson plans. I have taught a lesson using a video on Cyberbullying. My students had to write and list ways to stop cyberbullying online. I plan to implement in my lessons: Safe Web Surfing: Top Tips for Kids and Teen Online, Teen Voices Oversharing Your Digital Footprint and Common Sense Education.
