Jeffery Lamar Williams better known as "Young Thug" is an american rapper known for his cultural impact on the trap and hip-hop industry and the fashion industry. Debuting in 2010 with his first single "Racks After Racks" With a slow and rocky start to his career Young Thug worked his way to the top putting his hometown Atlanta Georgia on the map and paving a way for ATL rappers for the upcoming future. But obviously he could not do this all alone. With help from rapper Gucci Mane and with help from the 1017 Label Thug released his first mixtape in early 2013 titled "Barter 6". But before meeting Gucci Mane and Signing with 1017 Young Thug rolled around with the "Rich Money Gang" Led by Artist "Rich Homie Quan". Thug worked on a big time project with the gang titled "Lifestyle" Which is a Platinum record and could be argued that Thugs Career started there as he gained a lot of exposure from it. In late 2016 Thug founded his own record label known as "YSL Records" founded by Thug and located in Atl Georgia. From the time of 2016-2022 the YSL records label went very strong some notable members signed to the label were "Gunna", "Yak Gotti", "Unfook", which was Thugs biological brother. and many other members the label also collabed with a few notable Artists and Producers such as "Lil Yatchy", "Travis scott", "lil baby", "Lil Uzi Vert", "Wheezy", "Metro Boomin" and many more. All good things come to a end though as of May 9th 2022 Young Thug and 22 other members of YSL gang were all arrested on a Rico case for gun and drug related charges. As of right now Thug is being held without bail in the Fulton County Jail he has currently been denied bail 4 times, and is currently awaiting trial.

Young Thug is my favorite artist and he inspires me to be myself. Hes always been a expressive person and experimental person when it came to fashion and his everyday life. He has such bold confidence and dose not have regards for what people think of him, it has inspired me to do the same because if you don't accept yourself nobody will. That is why I've chosen Thug and why he inspires me and why I've chosen to do him for my case study.

Young Thug was born in Atlanta Georgia, but grew up in The Jonesboro South Projects. Thug lived most of his childhood and his early life before fame in the projects they are still around to this day but are now abandon, More importantly thug coming from Atlanta and being one of the very first to make it out from this area it allowed him to inspire the trap sound down there rather than his music being inspired by where hes from. Thug is rather the influencer then the influenced.

While being very big influence on the rap game and trap sound Thug is also a very big influence on fashion, influencing other artist to be more expressive and dive deeper into fashion, Thug has worn things that look completely outrageous, but he would not be Young Thug without being himself. Thug has also gone viral for stopping a runway model during a Vfiles fashion show.

Young Thugs biggest influence that inspired him to start his career in rapping is Lil Wayne. Thug idolizes Wayne and that is his biggest influencer. In a interview with Complex Magazine, he says "I want to get in the studio with Wayne more than anybody in the world." He has also cited his long time mentor Gucci Mane as another influence, And artist/producer Kanye West.

“You can’t even understand what he’s saying, all he do is mumble!” - This is a lyric from thugs song "Yeah i said it". On his Mixtape "1017 THUGGA" The word play in this lyrical shows his awareness of what the media, critics, and fans say about him and his lyrics. Thug was labled as a mumble rapper for his distinct sound and was even said to be the creator of "mumble rap". Mumble rap was something never heard before thug knowing this uses it at his power, mimicking what the people have to say about him in lyric form.

This lyric has influenced me to always be myself and just to stick to myself, i've always felt like being popular or being to known always gets you into drama and trouble, but being yourself keeps you stress free.
