Aim is basically a target that is set for a class. For example the aim of KGII is to read sentences at the end of the mid-term. On the other hand, the objective is the step by step action plan that is being created to achieve the end goal. For example objective-oriented weekly lesson plans, homework, assessments, group work etc.

We have been learning all the learning theories and their application. We also linked them to our existing classroom practice. Previously I focused on lecture based teaching where the aim was not much clear, now I concentrate more on students' involvement to achieve the aim. Now the lesson plans will be more objective focused. Shefath K.

The aim is an outcome of a lesson in a broader sense and objectives are what students will be able to do after a lesson on a particular topic. Often, I saw many teachers, even some experienced teachers, having confusion between them. They struggle while setting them in the lesson plan. Sometimes, it appears to be the same type of learning intention phrased differently. Before doing my BED, I also had the same confusion.

The way of lesson delivery was mainly teacher centric before. But after learning the theories and using them in our day to day lesson planning and application, it became students centric. Now the students have their ownership in the classes. They are learning much more by doing and sharing their thoughts and ideas. They are enforcing their learning even by helping their peers those who struggle. Their learning became deep rooted through these practice.

As per my experience, the objective of a lesson plan works as a skeleton.

In all our lesson plans we always set a particular objective that leads to the outcome that we want (or more).

Now, when I look back at the lessons, it becomes easier to figure out which is an aim and which is an objective.

At times teachers just shared the aim of a class "read the story" with the learners, but did not share what the learners would gain or what the outcome will be of the lesson. However, when the teacher shares "the objective is to read the story, find out new words, and use them" the outcome becomes clear.

If the objective is clearly set, the students will be able to work independently and be self-motivated.

Aim is actually what I hope to achieve at the end of the particular area. And the objective is which I take in order to achieve the aim. I generally focused on aim but last few years I set my lesson plan on the base of LO matrix .And started giving focus on to get learning outcomes rather than aim. Now my lesson will be objective focused more where we get reach our expected aim .

In pre-primary mathematics, the aim is to introduce young learners to basic mathematical concepts through engaging and developmentally appropriate activities. Objectives may include developing an understanding of numbers and quantity, recognizing and counting objects, and identifying shapes and patterns. For example, a pre-primary math lesson might focus on teaching students to count to ten. The aim of the lesson would be to help students develop a foundational understanding of numbers and quantity. The objectives might include:Students will be able to count objects up to ten.Students will be able to recognize numerals up to ten. Students will be able to identify sets with the same number of objects. To achieve these objectives, a teacher might use interactive activities such as counting games, finger painting, or singing songs to engage students and help them visualize and internalize mathematical concepts. By setting clear aims and objectives, teachers can help pre-primary students to develop a strong foundation in mathematics.

Aim provides a goal for the teacher and the learner to achieve in the learning process. Objectives are specific and targeted towards the actions of the learners and steps to reach the aim. In the past I only shared the aims with the students and observed that the learning intentions were not clear to the students. I observed some classes of my colleagues and found that if clear objectives are shared with the students in the beginning of a lesson they are more focused towards achieving the learning outcome. They are able to reflect on their learning. I incorporated clear objectives during my lessons and observed progress in improving learners motivation.

In my earlier classes I would go and write down the topics that will be taught in class that day, aim of the class. Later, on as we evolved I started making it more specific with proper checklists so the students are more aware how to reach the learning outcomes required for the given topic.
