“Runners, ready!” I shake the nervousness and the butterflies in my stomach off while that remark is being yelled out through a megaphone. “Puwesto...” I take my place in Lane 2. My body in a crouch position and my head bowed down. The red tartan molding the pulp of my fingers as the crowd’s cheers die down and everyone’s eyes are on us. “Handa...” The tension building up in me and my competitiors. I could hear my blood rushing and my heart beating. Our butt’s up, ready to take off and run this track. *GUNSHOT*
Before all this happened, I experienced hardships and have made numerous sacrifices for me to be where I was that time for I never come unprepared. Night trainings after school, Saturday morning trainings and catching up with schoolwork at the same time is really draining in my part. You are most probably asking, “Why do all this for an interbatch competition?” It’s more than just an interbatch competition. Everyone has a target they want to win against and unfortunately during that time (and until now), I was everyone’s target because I am one of the fastest runners in school, or so they say. With that thought, I pushed myself to be the best I could be. This required no excuses and no complaints. Sweating like crazy, puking and having that fainting sensation are probably things I’ve grown used to and portray it as normal. Although, I just didn’t want the winning itself, I wanted the feeling wherein all your hardwork has finally paid off. With all the things I was aiming for, my dad was there to support me. Training under the blistering heat of the sun and under sudden downpours. He is my one and only coach and I am his one and only student.
“...And the gold yet again goes to Audrielle Reyes!” Despite the small population, the Juniors’ cheers echoed throughout the complex chanting “Let’s go Audrey, let’s go!!!” I was feeling rather pleased and thrilled for my batchmates cheered their hearts out for me. I won three gold medals in the three individual events I ran in namely the 50m, 100m and 200m dash. Although I believe that it isn’t the medals or trophies that prove you are worthy, it’s the experience you had in gaining those.
This event changed my view on myself. Before, I would always think low, that I couldn’t do it and that someone would be better than me. Now that has changed. I’m more confident now and it has been proven that when I want something, I will do my best and do everything I can to achieve it. No one achieves anything by just lazing around and saying that, “I’ve got the talent to do this or that, that’s good enough.” Being talented isn’t enough, you have to hone and enhance those skills for you to be better in that field. I learned the hard way as the saying goes, “Dreams don’t work unless you do.” Running as fast as I can. Relaxed and everything in synced. A stride, a step closer to the finish line. I finally cross it, placing first. Shaking hands with my fellow runners, as my batchmates cheer for me. That feeling of accomplishment, of confidence still resides in me and I will make sure that it will never lurk its way out again.

                        A Sketchy Day Today
The sunlight beamed on my face and I realized that I'm late so, I took a shower and got ready. I put on my Lebrun shoes, my shirt and pants then I run out the door. My dog barks and said you forgot your keys and I said ,"I didn't know my dog could talk." I get my keys then I wake up then I say, "it's just a dream." I look at my alarm clock and I am supposed to leave for work at 7:00 and it's 8:30. I run, take a shower then put on my clothes and run out of my door. I just remember the keys to my car and I go back in to get the keys and pet my dog. I want to take her to my barber shop, so I took her. I got out of my car, run to my barber shop, then it hit me, it was closed today. So then I went to McDonald's to get breakfast. I bought my dog a mcgriddle and I bought my self a breakfast sandwich and a soda. The total was $5.50. I went home and ate with my Dog then I took my to the dog beach so she can play. I was going to go home when I saw a homeless man that did not have a hair cut in a long time. I cut his hair for free and gave him $20. Then I went home to get ready for work tomorrow. I had the greatest day but then I have to wake up early tomorrow for work. I got home, feed my dog more food, and went to bed at 8:30. I was thinking about a another part time job and about going back to college to get a higher education

THE MOMENT

The moment I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing nonstop at 3:00a.m. I new it was time for one of the most life risking situation I would ever be put in. I answered my phone to the voice of my boss saying that I needed to be at the hospital in less that 30 minutes because our patient was already dilated to 8. I rapidly put on my white coat and black leggings under some oversized white pants (uniform.) I kissed my kids and husband before I left because I didn't know if I would be able to take them to school in the morning. I jumped into my car and raced to the hospital (not actually raced more like going at 75mph.)

It took me about 12 minutes to arrive at the hospital and I walked fast paced from the lobby to the 8th floor of the new building the company recently opened yesterday. I checked in and opened every door with a magic card given to me by the company. As soon as I walked in I saw an outstanding view of our garden where we plant flowers and fruit to give to the kids in our intensive care unit for children. I opened the door to my left and I saw a hallway with a huge window where sunlight can shine through. On the right side and on the left side I saw about 8 decent sized rooms with a 78in" flat screen T.V. all painted the same shade of mint green. I asked in what room the patient was in and they told me 806A I was relieved because I didn't want to go to any other part of the building since everything is distant from each other.

I quickly began to gather my stuff to meet my patient. As I walked into the room she was working on some breathing exercises to make the delivery much easier to stand and I asked what her name was she said," Hello, my name is Vicky." As went on we talked more and more about how the procedure was going to go I couldn't help but notice that her makeup was smeared all over the pillow and her forehead (mainly her eyeshadow and eyeliner) but as I got to her mascara her mascara ran down the sides of her face when I told my group to get the epidural going because this girl looked like she was suffering. As soon as we put the epidural on during a contraction she said she was ready to deliver but I told her that we should wait until the epidural hit for thirty minutes.

During the thirty minutes I changed into a blue over all that protected you from all of the blood and I was sure I was going to get it all over. I put on some plastic wraps designed for surgery procedures on my feet and my mouth piece so I don't get blood on my mouth. When I was all changed and ready I headed to the patience room with my surgical team. Once we got our patient to go to sleep so we would be able to start our procedure, we set up everything we needed for the surgery. We started cutting the lower right side of the abdomen and began cutting our way towards the left. When we couldn't see the head of the baby and saw the feet we new it hadn't had turned around so we had to cut a little more up than usual. Once we were able to see the baby's head we pulled it out just to realize two things 1. it was a girl 2. the umbilical cord was tied around her neck.

We quickly began to find the end of the umbilical cord but it was still stuck to the placenta, their was no time to let the father cut it like the traditional way so we quickly began cutting. The baby was quickly running out of air since she was clearly turning purple so we unwrapped the cord around her neck and took her to the intensive care unit where she could be examined. When the tests were done everything was fine and no harms were done towards the baby.We just had to take care of her for about a day or two since we did have some difficulties along the way. Now that I have checked the clock it was now 8:15a.m. And we had to g to take a break so some nurses came and took our shift.

One of the most dangerous surgeries was performed by me as the main doctor and my surgical team, it all resulted into a positive answer. I finished my day by going home early at 10:00a.m. because I had worked since 3:00a.m. which isn't the first time it has happened to me. As I was on my way out of the hospital I picked up some Starbucks and drove home. When I get home my children were already at school and my husband was at work so I took a nap while nobody was home and everything was quite. I woke up at 3:00p.m. and my kids and husband were already here so I woke up and told my husband about my day and he told me his and at the end of it all I had the most stressful day. To finish my day off I went to my boxing training around five and got some workout done I finished off around 8:00p.m. after the training I went home took a shower had dinner and went to sleep and get rest for the next day at work.
