Life is often described as a journey, and through every stage, we find ourselves learning, unlearning, and relearning. Reflection is the pause that allows us to recognize how far we have come, what has shaped us, and where we might be heading. Over time, I have come to understand that growth does not happen in a straight line; it is full of challenges, setbacks, and unexpected turns. Yet, each of these moments has value, because they teach resilience, patience, and adaptability.

Instead of becoming angry or defensive, he used a clever and symbolic act of shaking the coins to show that his family never truly took anything from the rich man. For me, this line reflects the idea that justice and dignity do not always come from wealth or power, but from truth and creativity. It also reminds me that even in difficult situations, we can choose to respond with intelligence and humor rather than bitterness. Most of all, it teaches me that true richness lies not in money or possessions, but in the joy, love, and resilience that a family shares.

Despite being accused of stealing the rich man's happiness, he cleverly defends himself by arguing that happiness is like the air – it cannot be owned or stolen. This scene is powerful because it shows the father's wisdom and his ability to turn a serious situation into a moment of profound insight.

“My Father Goes to Court” by Carlos Bulosan shows that happiness and health are more valuable than material wealth. The poor family in the story had little food but lived joyfully, full of laughter, strength, and love for one another. On the other hand, the rich family, despite their possessions and abundance of food, lived isolated and became sickly. The father’s witty defense in court also shows that wisdom and humor can overcome unfair accusations.

This story made me reflect that true richness comes from simple joys, strong family bonds, and a grateful heart.

The line that I like the most is " we always played and sang together, and we always laughed"

Cause this line shows the simple life joy of the poor family. Even though they don't have much of food or wealth, their happiness comes from togetherness. It reminds us that money can't buy happiness. And it shows the Filipino trait of humor in hardship - even though they are poor, they don't let themselves be humiliated.

after reading "My Father Goes to Court" the line that speaks to my heart the most is when the judge says, "case dismissed." This line resonates deeply with me because it signifies the triumph of justice and the vindication of the narrator's family. It shows that the court recognized the absurdity of the rich man's complaint and affirmed the value of joy and laughter, which the family freely shared.

The scene I like the most is when the father asks, "Did you hear that children?" and the entire courtroom erupts in laughter. This scene is powerful because it demonstrates the contagious nature of joy and its ability to unite people. It symbolizes the victory of the human spirit over pettiness and the recognition that happiness is a treasure to be celebrated and shared, not a commodity to be hoarded.
