Three (3) things that I’m most curious about Mass Communication:
1. As there are always random videos popping up in our YouTube recommendations, how does the YouTube’s algorithm function ?
2. I wonder how Content Creators earn money by views/Watch time other than putting ads in their video, how does this monetisation works?
3. I crave for more information regarding Copyrights, my mere knowledge about its existence is to credit the author/creator, but how does copyright works? What happens if ones happen to break copyright rules? And what shall we take note of to avoid getting copyright infringement while creating a content?

Pessimistic news stands out. Since Mass Media seeks attention, isn’t it ironic to maintain social stability synchronously not excessively publishing negative news to catch eyeballs? Is it possible for a Mass Medium to promote positivities and at the same time make profits?

Semantic
- Two parties debating on “How To Be Happy” without having the consensus regarding the definition of “Happy”. Ended up having a meaningless debate.

b. Mechanical
- The microphone’s battery died midway while I was delivering a speech on stage, giving me a hard time to address my message.

c. Environmental
- A singer busking beside a bustling street.

Brief opinion on media convergence, how do i see the future of user-generated content in the next 5 years :
As media convergence has put to practice, more user-generated contents are spreading across the mass media, threatening traditional media productions. Loved the idea of how individuals have the strength to produce content based on own interest, but at the same time, there are chances for people to share false idea, fake news, or even immoral content. Although I see user-generated content dominating the mass media in the future, I don’t see traditional media dying in the next 5 years. For example, the trending “Pewdiepie versus T-series subscriber count” incident back in late 2018, despite the fact that Pewdiepie is the most subscribed YouTube content creator, and has a huge influence on social media, the incident wouldn’t have gone more viral without the help of promoting on billboards, newspaper and more. There’s always room for improvement for the futuristic media, which might be the help from the traditional.

Why do I trust or distrust the print newspapers ?
I believed that the majorities are infused with the idea that printed newspapers are the most reliable news source, compared to online news which may consist a tremendous proportion of bias and falseness, this is before the online news institution starting to threat printed media, back then print newspaper had no relevant enemies on the same field, so they were able to focus on reporting credible news without worrying whatsoever. Ever since the world has gone virtual, people rely on online news source more than printed, online news are easier to access and everything is one click away, not to mention the BIG HEADINGS and some eye-catching thumbnails. So why is the print newspaper nowadays distrusted by citizens like me? Modern print newspaper are more towards pandering to popular taste for entertainment, rather than serious news, just to compete with online news source. In my opinion, print newspaper institution isn’t able to function properly because of the crisis they are in, they wouldn’t make a living by publishing credible news, survival comes first.

1. Will movie theatres still exist in 2030? How do you envision the film watching experience in the near future?
I reckon that movie theatres will still exist in 2030. Watching movies in a theatre gives an distinct experience compared to watching TV shows alone at home, a movie is also different from TV shows/skits/short films in essence as they encounter different challenges and provide a diverse film watching experience to ones. However, famous film industry such as Hollywood might be threatened by online streaming institution such as Netflix as they are dominating the film watching institution and is growing on a rapid pace. Netflix might take over the crown of Hollywood by having its own movie theatres. Overall, I think that although movie theatres will still exist, it wouldn’t be as popular as it was because of the convenience provided from multiple online streaming industry, everyone can watch a film at home.
2. The major broadcast networks have been losing viewers for the past two decades. Will they still be relevant 10 years from now? Why or why not ?
As broadcast networks generate revenues by subscriptions and advertisements, institutions wouldn’t survive by doing traditional tv shows or broadcastings with the losing-audience trend they are on-going, not to mention that advertising agency would prefer promoting on modern online platforms as it is cheaper and possess more subscriptions, so traditional broadcast networks might change their style of doings and adapt to the modern norm in order to survive.
Like fashion, once something is gone, it bounds to comeback strong when the fashion industries start to play the retro card, meaning people tend to bring back old trends, in order words TV or broadcasts might revive in the future, so the relevance of various major broadcast networks is somehow unpredictable, it could be both yes and no.

Compare traditional radio listening with listening to a station via mobile app. How are they different?
Listening to a radio station through mobile app is more convenient as we can listen to it anywhere as long as the network is working. Whereas traditional radio listening often gets interrupted and affected by the environment such as weather and urban/remote area. I personally don’t listen to radio that frequently, but I do enjoy waiting for my favourite song to be played on the radio when I’m in a car, the excitement is pretty different in experience compared to other entertainments. I think there’s not much diversity in experience between listening radio on traditional radio and mobile app, except that traditional radio gives us the throwback and vintage vibes, and when we try to meet the circumstances like adjusting the antenna and waiting for the rain to stop, it makes the listening more worthy.
