When she was just 2 months old her dad passed away and was raised by a single mom. So in 1943 they fled their home and took refuge in the mountain countryside of Euboea. She then got involved with the Grecce local resistance against the German forces.  She focused her efforts on recruiting other women to fight against the Germans. She mostly focused on recruiting people that were in the same situation she was in. This ended up working out very well for her as she was able to form a fighting force that specialized in using out-of-the-ordinary and distracting tactics to draw German soldiers away from areas that other resistance fighters planned to attack. Although all she had done for the group Sara was not always credited with their victories, as it was not right that women could accomplish such acts. By the age of 18, Sara was known to be referred to as "Captain Sarika". Captain Sarika kept on fighting Germans until the late 1944s. Sara's group was wanted for her actions resulting in her eventual arrest.
