Given the position of ecocide in the Russian legal code, ‘Massive destruction of the animal or plant kingdoms, contamination of the atmosphere or water resources, and also commission of other actions capable of causing an ecological catastrophe, shall be punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of 12 to 20 years.’ (Russian criminal code article 358), is it possible to assemble evidence for a case of ecocide against the government of Russia?

We discussed precedents to post war reconstruction e.g. Northern France post 1918 its new villages and settlements in the areas of trench warfare, we mentioned the post 1945 reconstruction of historic Warsaw, Iand the  reconstruction after 1945 of Greater Tokyo with the importance of self-build after public service network had been repaired (water, electricity, gas etc.). Robert also mentioned the self-build gecekondu of Istanbul (squatted houses) and the critical contribution it has made to the growth of Istanbul from one million c.1945 to 15 million nowadays.
 
Roman felt that the psychological challenge of dealing with the trauma of the war was very important. And that psychological help would be critical in dealing with thr trauma of the war and rebuilding the social fabric  and so the capacity for rebuilding. Roman also noted that the population of Ukraine might be less post war, due to emigration.
