Time and space centers in the idea that language is a social capacity and it explores the variety of cultural contexts. By reading a text you can easily deduct and notice the time and space, since they are a very noticible charactersitc in every piece. Texts are produced and read across time and space, this means that every text is situated in a specific context and can represent social, political and cultural concerns. Countries which are geographically closer tend to share more cultural traditions rather than countries which are farther apart. This can affect language, while personal identity can influence reception.

Basically, what we are trying to express is that every written piece is affected by time, space, context and culture; these change the meaning, influence and reception of the reader. Examples where this takes part in is Diary of Ana Frank, Apollo 13, Versailles and Star Wars.

You can do this by comparing them and identifying their differences.

The ways in which we can use intertextuality are by comparing elements from pieces taking into consideration, their chronological order, literary form, mode, topic, and the perspective in which it is presented.

This area introduces students to the nature of language, literature and its study. Students will learn about the decisions made by creators and the different ways in which meaning is communicated. Moreover, they will be capable of understanding the creativity of language, the relationship between language and thought and the aesthetic nature of literature. This will make them become a lot more confident in their ability to recognize major textual and rhetorical features and the effect they create. By understanding and discerning these different features, students will be able to involve personal and academic aspects in their response as well as creative and expository aspects. Lastly, it is important to highlight that at the same time students will focus on the role readers play in formulating meaning as they will change freely between a personal response to understanding and interpreting, influenced by the other pupils.
1. Why and how do we study language and literature?
2. How are we affected by texts in various ways?
3. In what ways is meaning constructed, negotiated, expressed and interpreted?
4. How does language use vary amongst text types and amongst literary forms?
5. How does the structure or style of a text affect meaning?
6. How do texts offer insights and challenges?
