They also donated 2 waste bins at Marangu and Kisambo Bus Stands and educated the people around it about the proper disposal of waste. The event was coordinated by Community Lead Environmental Action for Regeneration (CLEAR Buckhaven and Methil). Lucas, a school Eco- rep  and others from MCCI helped Mr Duncan Zuill, Teacher and EIS Representative, Levenmouth Academy, Chair, Bat's Wood, Growing Space & Bike Track (SCIO) conduct a beach trash survey to  contribute to a scientific survey of the UKs Beaches  for the Marine Conservation Society.

"At first we thought the beach looked OK and the 100 metre litter pick would be easy" said Mr Zuill, "but by the end, we had found 20 kgs of non-biodegradable trash and a much smaller amount of biodegradable waste. Sadly, we also found 4 dead birds which was more than what we expected to find. JINDAL SCHOOL, RAIGARH- BRITISH COUNCIL IDS CURRICULUM ACTIVITY 6- CRASH YOUR TRASH preetikalita2007 https://padlet.com/preetikalita2007/Bookmarks/wish/1922174041 CRASH YOUR TRASH is a collaborative project with an aim to find out the types of waste generated on an average by the students and study the management practices in the schools of India, Egypt and UK/Nepal .  This activity has been undertaken for students of class V.

It is aimed to help students explore their ecological footprint and act on the measures to reduce their footprint.
This project is mapped to SDG 12-'Responsible Consumption and Production' and SDG 17-  'Partnership for the Goals'.

Learning Objective

  1. Students will gain knowledge on segregation, disposal and creative usage of different types of waste. 
  2. They will learn about the waste reduction practices undertaken in India,  Egypt, Nepal and UK. 
  3. Students will be able to think critically and enhance their creativity and imagination,  communication and leadership skills. 
  4. They will be able to differentiate between biodegradable and non biodegradable waste.
  5. They will learn to transform biodegradable waste into compost.
  6. The students will develop an attitude of responsible consumption and collaborate with the partner school to reduce their ecological footprint.
