The Immune System

The Immune System is what protects us from illness-causing organisms, such as a virus, bacteria, or fungi. Many of our blood cells are red blood cells, used to transport oxygen around the body. Some of these though, are called white blood cells, These are the cells that act as the body's army. They kill the unfamiliar things that intrude into your body, preventing them to do too much harm. All blood cells come from the marrow in our bones. Every cell type come from blood stem cells. Stem cells can divide, creating more blood stem cells. The other types of stem cells divide into other cells, like the organs, or bones. When the marrow doesn't produce enough blood cells, it can result in illnesses such as immuno-deficiency. Too many blood cells, on the other hand cause other diseases, leading to high blood pressure, and stroke. The immune cells leave the bone into the blood stream, and many enter tissues, and they wait for attackers. If they detect an invader, more cells will come, and group together. There is also a time where the immune system doesn't know how to kill the invader. They go to the thymus and have and "education" These cells are called adaptive immune cells. They can only attack a certain kind of virus. This will create a type of memory so that if they ever encounter the virus again, they will know how to kill it. https://newsela.com/read/lib-convo-how-immune-system-works/id/28393/
