Yes, I would enjoy doing this activity as shown in the video. As we often buy gifts for friends and family, making one is more meaningful. I can choose the person’s favourite colour and customise the size of the item and the kind of beads to use. A gift that is hand-crafted shows that I care for the recipient.  It is a sincere way to show my appreciation of our friendship. I find handicraft is a fun activity and I also get to learn a new skill. Even though good handicraft work is not easy, however it is worth the time and effort. 

2. Something I had done well would be baking cupcakes during the holidays last year. The things that pushed me to do my best were a positive mindset and feedback. I did many research from recipes, took notes and advice from people who have tried the dish and told me what could have been done better. After all the feedback I received, I tried to bake the cupcakes repeatedly and modified the recipe. Eventually, the cupcakes turned out nicely and many people praised me that the cupcakes were delicious. I was happy and proud of myself despite difficulties i had faced during the process as I did not give up and tried my best until I achieved the result that I wanted. It was worth the time and effort as I got to improve my baking skills.

3. I agree that hands-on learning is the most effective way to gain knowledge as it  improves attention and better understanding of concepts. Hands-on learning gives students the freedom and responsibility to learn through real experience, rather than through simply reading or listening to teachers. It is also effective in information retention, especially for content heavy subjects.

However, there are other ways to learn effectively. It is to focus on learning in more than one way. Instead of just reading from a textbook, you can find ways to rehearse the information both verbally and visually which involve describing what you learned to a friend, taking notes or drawing a mind map. By learning in more than one way, you are further cementing the knowledge in your mind. Students will have more opportunities to pull up all of those related bits of data from their multiple storage areas in response to a single cue. This means we have learned, rather than just memorised hard facts without real understanding.

*For myself, the most effective learning method is writing notes. Writing notes helps me to focus and better understand main concepts. It also improves my active listening, comprehension of material, and retention. Improves my memory and extend my attention span.

-The video shows a person cutting a piece of cloth into 5 equal shapes and sews it up which contains rice grains inside. The person then places all 5 bags into a glass jar and wraps it with a wrapper which says "Happy Birthday" and ties it with a ribbon.

I personally would enjoy doing this kind of activity as i like to make gifts by hand rather than buying from a gift store. When i am making a gift for someone by hand, i am setting aside my precious time and giving my fullest so that the person i am gifting can yearn for. Even if the present is not up to the expectations of the recipient, any kinds gift especially made by hand, must be grateful for as it is only meant for the person receiving the gift. Although i am very impatient, i really like to enjoy doing handicrafts not only to make gifts, but also as a form of leisure which can help improve my time management a lot.

-Not long ago, i was watching a show called masterchef on my television where the chefs were competing against each other to make the best fried rice. That was actually the first time i was so engrossed on the show as i have the fullest interest in fried rice which is also my favourite dish. On the same day, i took a recipe from one of the chefs and tried cooking the rice but the result of the dish turned out extremely different, with mine looking horrible and the chef's looking appetising. I then challenged myself that i will keep on attempting to make a better fried rice day by day and noticed that there were changes and improvements. I was already satisfied with the result of the dish and planned to cook my best one on Mother's Day. The day had come and i gave in my best to cook the best fried rice using my own recipe which then, the result looked way more appetising than the one the chef had made. It was a sense of accomplishment which made my family and myself proud and made a wonderful Mother's Day.

-I strongly agree that hands-on learning is the most effective way to gain knowledge. It is a form of education in which children learn by doing. Instead of simply listening to a teacher talking about a given subject, students engages with the subject matter to solve a problem or create something. Students also tend to grasp knowledge more effectively and quickly rather than always listening to what the teacher has to say. I myself am from a CCA called Audio Visual Club where i have to setup and adjust mics, public address system and the school's control room. When i first joined, the teacher in charge guided us how to organise these equipment and then we had to setup on our own as a test. We had weekly duties as there were lots of electronic systems we needed to adapt by using it. I did not learn a single thing when the teacher was talking about how to use them but was amazed when i used it by hand which was more easier to adapt to. Setting up the electronic systems during my duty has made me more independent and capable of doing things on my own. Thus, hands-on learning is definitely the best way to gain knowledge.
