During these slumps I tend to procrastinate and do work last minute. In the video, I agree with the video that sitting in the front of class, blocking out study periods in your schedule, knowing when you are overexerting yourself and making time to rest are very important skills. Essentially, the key to staying motivated throughout the whole school year is to start strong and balance your classes and rest. Everyone may have a different balance, but knowing what conditions you work best under can really help keep your focus. I felt that the create a study playlist tip from the video could help some people, but it could also make others procrastinate. This video fits with the theme of how to stay motivated because of the numerous tips and information about how to keep motivated for the duration of the school year.

Related Articles:
1. Repeating rituals, even when not necessary, helps us stay motivated

by, Angela Duckworth
I choose this article because it helps explains how routines can help people stay motivated.

I chose this video because of the amount of students, like me, who are doing school work from there home. Because many students are not accustomed to learning in a online format, some tend to plan less and procrastinate until the last minute. I really liked the tip of choosing three main “intentions” per study sessions and breaking down those tasks to get started. I agree with the video how it is good to set a timer for how long to work and remove all controllable distractions that may be around. The video went as far as to give the recommendation to make even create a distraction journal/log that the reason for the stop and the duration to try and show yourself how long you could have been working. Moreover, it could help you stay more motivated on your intentions. I don’t think a distraction blocker app on your computer is necessary, but it could help those who check their emails frequently throughout the day.

Related Articles:
1.Stay motivated in school with these tips for taking class online

By, Branded Content Contributor
I chose this article because it goes more in-depth about how students should create a workspace that has minimal distractions.

I chose this video because of I wanted to know how I could avoid distractions and keep my motivation in school and in my personal life. In the video, Thomas Frank explained that motivation can be changed with the reward, consequences, and distractions. Moreover, as those three factors change, your motivation will too. I agree with the video with the idea that creating extra rewards and consequences can help train your brain to keep focused. For example, if I needed to study for at least an hour, then I could plan to have a small snack or piece of candy I liked if I completed the task. I also agree that motivation is also based on how willing you are to do a task are versus not being able to achieve a task. Though some tasks may seem daunting, blocking out study periods and sticking to a schedule can help achieve any task.

Related Articles:
1. The Library Is for Studying: Student Preferences for Study Space
By, Rachel Applegate
I chose this article because because of how it shows how students utilize study zones, such as libraries, and how these places can promote good study habits that keep them on task.
