In an effort to evaluate differences in writing methods, 3 groups were formed. Prior to the collection, each group of 4-5 members discussed how to write a methods section and groups presented their results. The scale for the results was formed during the collection of data. In lights of these results it is possible to say that there are some variations between different scientific fields on how to write the methods section.

To establish the variation in Methods sections in different fields of science, a 10-item-questionnaire using a 3-point-scale was distributed to a group 14 PhD students. The scale (Scales 2012) included options for agreement, disagreement, and a question mark option for those who were unsure. During the data collection, the interpretation of the survey questions was discussed in groups of 4-5 students. Based on the results, the practices between fields were found to be significantly different. To further test this hypothesis, a more extensive survey should be carried out.

Variations of Methods sectionTo establish differences in Methods section, we conducted survey consisting of ten three-point-scale questions. During the data collection, 14 PhD students answered the questions. Prior to collecting the information, the participants discussed the questions in three small groups of four to five people. In the follow-up phase of the study, the answers were collected together.

In the interest of obtaining useful data on the structure of Materials & Methods sections across different fields of science, we carried out an extensive survey. Prior to collecting this information, participants were instructed about how to fill in the survey. In the follow-up phase of the study, we discovered that some participants did not follow the suggested guidelines and adopted a three-option system instead of the initial agree/disagree. In spite of the issues, we arrived at the conclusion that the contents of Materials & Methods depend on the field of studies and therefore there was no strong agreement between participants of this poll.
