I started out in college going toward a secondary education certificate, but became disillusioned with the current public school system. I earned my math degree, but focused on tutoring, raising my kids, and volunteering. As the kids got older, I couldn't stay away from the education system. I grew up around it and love to teach. After working in an office position and doing some substitute teaching, I ended up at a charter school I really love and discovered that I love helping the students with mild disabilities to unlock their potential. I'm an Arizona native and earned my math degree from ASU. Besides Arizona, I've lived in Utah, the Philippines, and Switzerland. I've been married for 25 years and my husband currently works for ASU in their biomedical engineering department. With a love for reading and all things science fiction and fantasy, I've authored five books across three series and an anthology, all under my maiden name of Colette Black. I continue to write, do handwork as a hobby, and try to keep up with more projects than I like to count.
