1)      Current affairs research task

Over the summer holidays we would like you to become more familiar with the world of business and the business news. We recommend that you put the BBC App on your mobile. As an ongoing task please keep up to date with key business events and economic news ready to discuss these in September.

We would like you to make brief notes on at least five business events that happen between now and September, these should be spread out across the summer.

Your summary should include:

-          Title

-          Date that the event happened/news.

-          Up to one hundred words summarising what happened and whether this was positive or negative for the UK. Your summary should be your own words, and not copy and paste.

This task will form part of our class discussions at the start of the course.

2)      Entrepreneurs research task

Read the two articles that are linked below and watch the videoclips included.

The Entrepreneur: Ranjan Singh, Healthhero (startups.co.uk)

After you have done this write brief bullet-pointed notes on both entrepreneurs. This should be no more than one side of A4 and should be handed into your teacher at the beginning of the week commencing 9^th September.

3)      Optional task

If you have not already studied GCSE Business Studies, you may find it helpful to have a look at BBC Bitesize. This provides an overview of what students who have previously studied business will have been taught. Please do not worry if you do not understand all of the content, we will be going over this again and adding lots more content in!
