What I learned about Booker T Washington is that he thought that it would be best for people of color to instead of trying to gain civil rights and equality, he said people of couple should instead be trying to make them self useful to white people. The reason this matters is because it shows more ideas people were trying to come up with as a compromise to make everyone happy but it most likely only set the black civil rights movement backwards.

What I leaned about Marcus Garvey is that he founded the UNIA to promote and teach black people to go back to Africa and form a new colony and while this was really successful it also caught the attention of a Man in the FBI who hired two black people to get dirt on Garvey. They eventually set him up for mail fraud and got him arrested and deported and was not allowed back in the USA ever again. Why this is important is that I showed black people that they don’t have to rely on the American government to make their lives better and instead Garvey showed them that they could take initiative to make their own lives better and show them that theirs beauty in struggle.

What I learned about Ida B Wells is she went against a practice called lynching she was an educator and was the daughter of the people who founded rust collage for black people she wrote 2 books teaching the the north and the south about the horrors of lynching and taught about why it was so horrible. The reason why this is important is because it was one of the main reasons why lynching became illegal, it made black people feel a whole lot safer than before and taught the north what really was happening in the south during these times.

Eventually, they found a way to charge him with "mail fraud", making him get arrested and deported. This banned him from ever entering the U.S. again. Instead, Garvey said that they should take action against rule to better their own circumstances and represent their community and their need for equal rights.

Something that I learned about Brooker T. Washington was that he became the principle of a school, that eventually became one of the top higher education centers for African Americans, and that he grew in fame because of his success. This matters because he created a place where African Americans could come and learn, and move on to working. But, he eventually turned to saying (to please his white audience) that African Americans should work their way up. Start at manual labor jobs and move towards business, instead of continuing to fight. Behind the scenes he funded anti-discrimination lawsuits.
