After reading all of the inaugural poems last week, what particular techniques did you notice? What kind of techniques do you think you will use to create your own inaugural poem? How will you inspire your audience (the American people) ?

I noticed how the author used metaphors in order to emphasize their point. I would probably use smilies, just because they are just easier for me. I would tell the people what they need to hear. As in I would inspire them to fix the problems is society.

I noticed that all these poems had some imagery and symbolism. These were used to "show, not tell". I think I will use imagery and inner thoughts to show my point. I think showing the inner conflict of the character makes the reader feel the situation, and stand in their place.

I think a lot of the techniques I saw were the authors naming 'everyday' people doing 'everyday' jobs, but emphasizing how important they were through a specific writing pattern. I think I will try to recreate that in my poem because it had a very nostalgic effect. I want to inspire people by somehow stating that no matter what we do, we all contribute to America.

Some technique they used was using positive feedback, then trail it with an antonym to twist the meaning. Also, personification is heavily included.
Techniques I might use are definitely personification since it seems more...err comforting per say. It speaks more to me if that makes sense.
I would like to inspire my audience by first naming some down hearted items such as war and poverty that still exist, sometimes not in eyesight. Softening there original emotion, then describe all we are yet to know. All what awaits. And how we all could change that.

I noticed that a lot of the poems used a lot of imagery to describe the history of America. Some of them also brought the country together by describing activities that common people do. Another thing I noticed was that usually the poets either described America's past, or America's present, not really focusing on both.
Like the other poems, I'd like to use a lot of imagery and focus on the togetherness of America. I would also find a certain phrase to use multiple times in the poem.

I noticed that in a lot of the inaugural poems that we read last week, the authors use lots of imagery, repetition, and dramatic words. The imagery creates a vivid images in the audience's mind as they read, and pairing that with the dramatic words provides some sort of urgency to this image, whether it is positive or negative or something that is for the audience to perceive. Repetition caused each important "concept" to be pounded into the audience's head each more, allowing the poet to choose what the audience gets the most out of the poem. I will use repetition and imagery in my poem and will definition try to include "power words", but I do struggle with using my vocabulary when writing so that may be a challenge. I will inspire my audience by conveying an idea of togetherness throughout my poem.

In the beginning of the poems the authors were focused on the past, and use symbolism to focus on war, slavery, and other faults in our past. The author describes regular actions to describe the present. They then move to talking about the future using imagery. I would start with the present, and explain the faults in it. Even though people in the past thought the future would be an amazing, super high tech place were everyone lived in peace, but we are still divided. I would inspire by saying that there was a hope for the future of humans, if only we start caring for the planet and it's people.
