I would have my students, after playing the game, finding similar spectacular images of athlets overcoming obstacles, taking smooth turns, making great jumps, like Mario. They would have to be athletes from all participating countries, even athletes who haven't won medals. Then they would have to choose one of those athletes that didn't win a medal and imagine being him/her, writing on his/her diary or facebook page about this olympic games experience, comparing it in a humorous way to the super mario game he / she suposedly played the night before his achievement. Role playing, social skills, observation and comparing skills, creative writing, vocabulary could be fostered through such an activity.

Movement, speed, time, height, lenght, a lot of notions of Physics that can be introduced and studied through this game. Solving problems linked to the game could be much funnier than the usual ones from the textbook.

From my experience connecting with other schools via skype is an unforgettable experience for our students, so the content studied this way could become unforgettable, too.

I like the concept of Olympic Games as a conceptual hub since it gives you a variety of choices concerning your activities. For the next Olympics, I would propose a variation of the activity with the countries that we saw at the video. The students can pretend to be tourists from different countries (divided into groups) coming to Rio to attend the Games. They can write descriptions about the city, the way of life, the culture and sports reports about the games, the athletes of their country, the event. Indirectly, they can compare their own country with the country they visit and their athletes with others. This project can be used as the continuation of the project proposed in the video or as an activity addressed to more mature students

I think I would focus on Olympics and noble rivalry vs doping: the ethics of it all! Alternatively, I like focusing on Paralympics and the potential and ideals they promote. Oscar Pistorius used to serve as a top-notch role model for my teenage students until recently. I think that this topic gives endless possibilities to learn English. I would start a project on the Olympics by asking my pupils' ideas about what things we emphasize. After their brainstorming we plan the project together. Because almost every pupil is interested in sports I'm sure there won't be any problems in motivation.

I don't know the game very well but I think I would divide my class into 5 teams, each one representing one continent and then have the students in each group choose a nation from that continent. I would use this game in order to introduce the idea of olympism, use the mathematical data produced for teaching addition, fractions, making charts. Then in the module of Geography learn more about the area the Olympics take place, compare it to our own capital or hometown. In foreign languages, we could study the vocabulary, choose the topic depending on the level of the learners, simple sports vocabulary to politics surrounding the game. We could set up competitions and have the learners as judges giving points and as reporters, hosting the show. It's a nice game but, for some reason, I think it would look 'childlike' to the eyes of my elder students. It might be suitable for the 1st Middle Class Grade though. I also find it a bit difficult to adapt to my (mother tongue) language courses because it is suitable for some specific units, such as teaching about Olympics or the athletic spirit or vocabulary on sports etc but ... Greek education is too much 'book-centered' and kids HAVE to learn too many things that we, teachers, need many hours to teach. Thus, there isn't time for a timeconsumming activity that might not be strictly related to the curriculum.

I personaly like the idea of games in education and I'm gonna use it, so I will be able to draw safe conclusions.

I really used the last Olympic games in my teaching, but I didn´t use any game in the project, so the information about the new version of the game Rio 2016 is useful for me. I teach foreign languages - this topic offers a lot of activities, I liked the international aspect in the video and this inspired me a lot. I also teach History - the topic can be used as well - creative writing, cartoons, drama. It is also good for cooperation with other subjects - Math, ICT, Biology, Art, Music and others.

Let's go to Rio. We have to be prepared to participate in the Olympic games. Every student can choose a sport and become a mascotte of that (as an athlete). We have to plan our training (exercise, healty food, no doping, no cheating), we have to advertise our team (think a logo and uniforms), we have to present ourselves as athlethes and our sport in some events to erase some fundings....(we have to go to Rio), finally we have to organize our trip to Rio

Of course, geography, history and training are my favorite, because, these subjects need and extra of interest. Geography in particular need strong project, maybe because I'm not very fond of it myself.

In my class I like when children create thinks together, and I hope they can create a model of the olympic stadium, learning things about architecture, and math, and using it for their creation. After, they can play with the video game, and with a real game.

The skype session could be used for MFL class chatting with students from other country of the target language (English-Spanish). I think the activity where the students are reporters is great as it is linked to the real life, journalism profession. I find this activity motivating for the MFL class to use and work on the target language.

This video game is also a good opportunity to work on geography.

I have already used very successfully Scholastic.com game GO FOR THE GOLD! The students choose a country and a game: archery (easy) or discus (difficult) and compete in the Olympic Games by understanding english words all deriving from Greek. The rubric says: Represent your country in the Olympics! You not only have to be strong, but you have to be smart to win. Play "It's Greek to Me" and learn about Greek influences on the English language. We use the interactive board or play it on the computer lab!

For sure, I would enhance their literacy skills. I would for example ask them to write a letter to their friend to tell him that they will become a volunteer at Rio for the olympic games. (literacy)

We will then talk about volunteerism, and the olympic ideal for world peace. (social studies)

I would try to profit the participation of every country and say a few words for each country and its place in world map. (geography)

I would separate my students in groups, each group would choose an olympic sport and they will have to make a represantation for that sport(its history, some big athletes, which skills are necessary, world records, etc)

The students can study the social conditions in the countries taking and not taking part in the 2016 Olympic Games. They can then compare them, as well as compare the athletes’’ social backgrounds. See if these affect the results in keeping up with the athletes that win medals. Before the Olympics the students can use the Mario and Sonic Games to see what information they can collect and study to then develop their project about the 2016 Olympic Games.
