         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Polio</strong>, which is short for <strong>poliomyelitis</strong>, is a highly infectious disease caused by the agent <strong>poliovirus</strong>. The virus is predominantly among young children and could lead to paralysis in some cases. Poliovirus is spread from person to person and is mainly transmitted through the fecal-oral route, which means that it is either spread through contaminated water or food.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Preventions: </strong></p><ol><li><p><strong>Vaccination: </strong>Most effective strategy in preventing poliovirus. There are two commonly used vaccines: OPV &amp;</p><p>IPV.</p></li><li><p><strong>Campaigns for Mass Immunization: </strong>As stated before polioviruses are spread around from human to human, however, if mass vaccination is possible, then the amount of cases of poliovirus will reduced greatly since the likelihood of the disease to transmitted is also decreased.</p><p><strong>Treatments:</strong></p><ol><li><p><strong>Respiratory Support: </strong>For some individuals, their respiratory muscles are affected, which means that mechanical ventilation is necessary.</p></li><li><p><strong>Physical Therapy: </strong>Rehabilitation and PT are necessary for individuals who experience paralysis to possibly restore muscle function.</p></li></ol><p><br></p></li></ol>]]></description>
