Pg. 34, Panel 2. This panel shows Mehri crying as Marji’s family takes her from her parents. In addition to the obvious injustice of one family forced to give up there child and another receiving a maid, it is drawn so that Marji’s family is literally on higher ground than Mehri’s family. This panel shows the impossibility of Mehri’s situation, her parents were so poor that they had to give there child away, and the Satrapi’s were willing, if not excited, to take the Mehri.
