Roman government officials bribed or had wealthy friends bring them in votes so they could get elected/reelected. The Roman empire expanded and conquered too many lands in such a short time that it was difficult to govern. It was so tricky that six civil wars broke out because of how bad the government was. In the span of 75 years in the Roman empire, 25 men took over the throne after the murder of the one before. Since it became clear to the public that their country was in chaos History.com states " As a result of such corruption Roman citizens lost faith in their leadership." Having such a corrupted government was one of the reasons for Rome's downfall, and currently the downfall of some countries too. By following the SDG's goal it could have helped Rome by working together united and having a fighting chance against the barbarian attacks. Even today many of our governments are corrupt and don't have justice. Very recently, corruption around the world has been increasing very rapidly.  These are some problems that the world has faced and is facing right now,  Roe vs. Wade,  President of Sri Lanka resigns  before fleeing the country, cutting health costs.  For example in 2014, 43 students from the school "Ayozinapa Rural Normal", were kidnapped in Mexico and were never seen again.
