This quote is from the song "Wick". I feel this quote symbolizes that all Mary's life she has felt alone, but if someone cares about her and gives her the time and attention she will grow into a beautiful young girl.

In the review the writer stays that the story is driven by Archie and his brother Dr.Craven, and dwarfs the important's of Mary and her loss. Though I do understand why they think that I believe that Mary's loss and loneliness are just as evident as Archibald's. I feel that Norman did an excellent job of portraying two similar story without overshadowing another. In the movie Archibald is almost insignificant, but in they play his story is told much better.

In the book an important part was Lily's garden. I believe it is symbolic of inner beauty. The garden appeared dead, bare, and ugly at first, to Mary, but with help from Dickon, and a little work, it bloomed into a gorgeous garden.

In the book the use of conflict was interesting. Though Dr. Craven proved to be an antagonist and obstacle for Mary, the book had more of a self vs self conflict, evident in both Mary and Archibald. This conflict is shown in Archibald's depression from the loss of his wife, and Mary's anger from how lonely she was.
