Mansa Musa was the richest person is all of human history because Huffington Post writer, Brian Warner says, "The 14th century emperor from West Africa was worth a staggering $400 billion after adjusting for inflation, as calculated by celebrity new worth.".This quotes shows how much he was worth in today's money, which was a lot. Also, Arab historian, Al-Umari says, "Mansa Musa flooded Cairo with his gifts. He left no emir of a royal office without the gift of a load of gold. The people of Cairo made incalculable profits out of him...They traded away gold until they depressed its value in Egypt and caused its price to fall". This shows he had so much wealth he could carelessly distribute it to the people of Cairo. He gave away so much gold that its value declined because there was an abundance of it.

Was Mansa Musa the richest person ever?

Mansa Musa was the richest person ever. He would give out gold and gifts, as the primary source Al-Umari says: "He left no holder of a royal office without the gift of a load of gold" At the time Africa had very strong gold and salt trade, and Mansa Musas empire was responsible for 50% of the worlds gold and salt supply. Because African ruler were converting to Islam, Mansa Musca wanted to travel to Mecca, "The emperor really turned heads for the over-the-top extravagances of his 1324 pilgrimage to Mecca". These quotes support the abundance wealth of Mansa Musa

His nation was also responsible for more than half of the worlds salt and gold supply. Two things that were worth lots. I don't think studies are lying when they say he was the richest man in history.

Mansa Musa could have been the worlds richest man alive, but there was not enough information to come to a complete conclusion about it. According to document A the blog post states in it that he was worth over 400 billion dollars, but according to document C it states that he spent so much money that he caused a major inflation of money decreasing its value over the next 12 years. it didn't state however how much he was worth compared to the pharaohs, and/or other conquerors who at the time could have been worth more by stealing, and not by trade. So he could have been worth a lot less than stated in the blog post, but there was no solid evidence that he was or wasn't the richest man alive.

I believe he was the richest man ever because both sources give evidence to prove he was. According to Brian Warner Mansa Musa "was worth a staggering $400 billion" which "outstrips (exceeds) that if the current worlds richest man." This, however, was a secondary source so it might not be completely true. According to Al-umari "He left no emir or holder of a royal office without the gift of a load of gold." Al-Imari also spoke of how erigant Mansa was. He said even though he could speak Arabic he chose to speak through an interpreter. Mansa Musa was extremely rich and more than likely the richest person ever.

Based on the evidence provided, it could easily be claimed that Mansa Musa was by far the richest person in the world. I can confidently say this according to these sources using quotes such as; "Then he sent to the royal treasury many loads of unworked native gold and other valuables.", which is from the Al-Umari document, and ""He left no emir or holder of a royal office without the gift of a load of gold.", which is also from the Al-Umari article. Both of these quotes have been taken from the article on document C because it is the more reliable of the two. Both of these sentences demonstrate that he had loads of gold which he could give to anyone he met as he wished, without any need for worry over the loss of his fortune. I've never heard of anyone being so rich that they are able to give anybody almost any amount of money, and do so completely free of worry. This shows that he possessed such a great amount of wealth that he must have had more than anybody else in his time period, and perhaps more than anybody has today, as well.

Another way that shows that Mansa Musa was the richest man to ever live was that from all the money he practically gave away, he caused the value of gold to be lowered in Egypt, this issue lasted for 12 years, this according to Al-Umari too. To lower the price of gold though, the amount given away must be a whole bunch, this shows how much wealth Mansa Musa had.

Based on the given evidence, I believe that Mansa Musa WAS the richest person in the world. He never let anyone leave until he gave them gold. Money never seemed to be a problem for him. In Document C it specifically says " Mansa Musa flooded Cario with his gifts. He left no emir or holder of a royal office without the gift of a load of gold." This shows that he couldn't care less if he spent a lot of money. But eventually he spent all of his money on the people that its value declined.

Mansa Musa was the richest person ever because he supplied half of the salt and gold for the world. Also he had enough money to just hand it out. As stated "He left no emir or holder of a royal office without the gift of a load of gold". Him being the richest is because he kinda acts carefree with his money like leaving a load of gold with pretty much all of the more important people money and he went to Mecca and took a lot of gold to it. He bought so much stuff with gold that he depressed golds value in Egypt and caused its price to fall.

This shows how he had so much money that he gave a bunch to other rich people too. he also said, "Then he sent to the royal treasury many loads of unworked native gold and other valuables."

Mansa Musa was the richest man ever. The reason that i think that is because of how he has been described in both Documents A&B and some of the things that he was compared to. In Document A it said "it "almost put Africa's sun to shame". By saying this his wealth is making the sun itself look pitiful in comparison. Another account is how he would give great amounts of gold on his holy pilgramages. "Mansa Musa flooded Cairo with his gifts". He single handedly created inflation in Africa and cause gold to Loose it value. In turn i do believe he was the richest man in the world.

Perhaps Mansa Musa was the wealthiest man to ever live, but not enough information was given to allow for a definitive opinion. For instance, The Huffington Post gives the estimate that in today's economy, Mansa Musa would have a greater net worth than the richest man of 2012. Although this covers the present day billionaires, it does not compare his wealth to other affluent historical figures such as pharaohs of Egypt and robber barons of the Gilded Age, therefore not allowing room for superlatives. According to Al-Umari, a historian, Mansa Musa had given away so much gold, causing major inflation, that for the next twelve years gold suffered a decrease in selling price. This shows that indeed, Mansa Musa had a vast amount of money, but it does not detail just how much.
(Anna Morgan)

I do believe Mansa Musa was the richest person ever! I believe this because Brain Warner states, “The 14th century emperor from West Africa was worth a staggering $400 billion, after adjusting for inflation, as calculated by Celebrity Net Worth”. This quote is telling you that Mansa Musa was very rich because in today’s world most people do not make that, actually nobody makes that. Brain Warner also states, “The West African nation was responsible for more than half of the world’s salt and gold supply, according to Net Worth”. This quote is telling you that he became a billionaire off salt and gold. He had so much salt and gold he was giving it away for free. All of the information that I got from this document tells me, that he is the richest person ever. Mansa is very good with his money; he would give people money to respect him in return. They traded and he gave away money as if it was nothing, which lowered its value, so it caused the value to decline.
