Because African ruler were converting to Islam, Mansa Musca wanted to travel to Mecca, "The emperor really turned heads for the over-the-top extravagances of his 1324 pilgrimage to Mecca". Both of these quotes have been taken from the article on document C because it is the more reliable of the two. Both of these sentences demonstrate that he had loads of gold which he could give to anyone he met as he wished, without any need for worry over the loss of his fortune. I've never heard of anyone being so rich that they are able to give anybody almost any amount of money, and do so completely free of worry.
