The most common cause of a sore throat is a cold or a flu. You may also get a sore throat due to dryness, if the inside of a building is dry or over-heated, it can make your throat feel dry. If that's the case than you'd might need to see a doctor to see if you have a strep throat. But before you see a doctor you should try some home remedies for example you can try, drinking fluids, fluids will prevent dehydration. Drink warm liquids such as caffeine free-tea, warm water with honey and cold treats such as ice pops or ice cream. There are also some more creative ways such as gargling with saltwater. You'd have to do, 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoons of salt, and 4 to 8 ounces of warm water, gargle the solution then spit it out.
