This project represent the daily lives of people who are working in the kitchens, who feed the public behind closed doors- chefs. Sous chefs, Chef de Parties, Saucieres, Rotisseurs and Kitchen Porters form a group of professionals who allow us to indulge in gastronomical masterpieces. The title for me reminisces the rough hands of chefs- their physical, mental challenges and burning- that keeps  the ongoing passion alive.

I retired at the age of 67 1/2. It was the year of July 2014, 3 1/2 years ago now.

What is retirement like for you?
Retirememt for me is great. I have alot of time on my hands. Even i’m retired, I always keep busy all the time -not enough time in the day-.

Since your retirement have you been able to do more things you’d like to do?
Yes, i have been able to do all the things i want to do, for example, reading, watching tv and sorting extra paper work. Also, I have been able to follow up on new interests as well.

I had an early retirement back in May 1994, at age 50.

What is retirement like for you?
It’s good. It gives me more freedom to spend my time doing things i want to do.

Since you retirement, have you been able to do more things you’d like to do?
Yes. I spend more time going to the cinema and theatre. i’m able to travel more, taking holidays and visiting the places in the country. What is retirement like for you?
Much of the time has been spent looking after my elderly mother. However, retirement has provided an opportunitity to do many things that interst me.

Since your retirement have you been able to do more things you’d like to do?
Immediantly after retirement, i did a degree course in History + Carribbean studies. Now more time is spent on leisure activies like 
National Trust and English Heritage visits, holidays, theatre and cinema.
