He was standing on the balcony on the second floor of Lorraine Motel when a bullet from a sniper had shot him in the neck. He had died an hour later in the hospital at age 39. The whole world was in shock at the time he was shot. His assassination had created a huge wave of anger among all African Americans. The assassination made an equal housing bill the last achievement of the civil rights era. In the link there is a video about James Earl Ray on the assassination of Mlk. He was guilty in killing Martin Luther King. He had fired the shot from a bathroom window in a boarding house and fled the seen. The authorities had looked for fingerprints and found that the rifle used to kill Mlk led back to James.
