He used speeches and protests which were non violent that really spoke to the people. He fought the segregation and was achieving civil rights for African Americans.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis Tennessee. He was standing on the balcony on the second floor of Lorraine Motel when a bullet from a sniper had shot him in the neck. He had died an hour later in the hospital at age 39. The whole world was in shock at the time he was shot. His assassination had created a huge wave of anger among all African Americans. The assassination made an equal housing bill the last achievement of the civil rights era. He didn't just focus on his race but he widened his appeal to other people and things going on in the world at the time.</div>]]></description>

He was guilty in killing Martin Luther King. He had fired the shot from a bathroom window in a boarding house and fled the seen. The authorities had looked for fingerprints and found that the rifle used to kill Mlk led back to James. March 10, 1969 he was guilty and sentenced to 99 years in prison.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The gun that had killed Mlk was a Remington Model 760 Gamemaster. James had purchased the rifle in Alabama where he also had bought a scope and a box of 20 rounds. The gun is now in the Civil Rights Museum where you can go see it. </div>]]></description>

King is known as the leader for African Americans during the era. He had the most impact for the public on the civil rights movement with the least violence. With his death there was an established holiday for what he did and to mourn his death. It was signed into law during 1983 by President Ronald Regan.</div>]]></description>
