The overall design is simple and yet still holds features unique to the cause, such as our logo and the rainbow. The design is quite plain in order to focus the attention on its functionality. The inspiration page however is Pinterest inspired which is evident with the layout. It is aesthetically pleasing and a different way to organise the information.

I designed the logo for our cause. The design is simple enough to be memorable yet unique enough to be interesting. I also designed the website as well as the mobile version of it. I focused on its functionality and purpose as well as aesthetics, while keeping up with our theme.

I just researched our idea and overlapped it with others to see if it would work and if the project would be successful.

Along with this I was a part of the advertisement helping promote the event with designing posters.

My group liked to take this opportunity to create an artwork that promotes love and acceptance towards gays in today’s society. My contribution to this project will involve merchandising and advertising our message. The point of merchandise is not to make money, but rather to spread the message and equality among everyone.

My role through my discipline of advertising and graphic design was to come up with a poster and social campaign to raise of awareness of the event and in turn, the cause. I formed together the poster with the intent to present them through community newspapers/ magazines (e.g. Xpress Magazine or OutinPerth magazine, which is WA’s premier gay and lesbian news publication)/ brochures and flyers. and would distribute them around the CBD, on community boards, and around all major shopping centers. The poster and imagery will be used in conjunction with the social media platforms and campaigns that would lead audiences to our website, mobile app, Facebook, Instagram, merchandising, YouTube, twitter or any other channels that would deem necessary. To tie the event together it’s vital to create a discussion and raise awareness through social media, therefore creating Facebook and Instagram campaigns would likely be the most effective way to advertise for our chosen audience and demographic. I think aiming towards the Australian youth and younger generations in Perth would be of most benefit due to the increase and importance of young people being able to marry legally to the same sex. Through the use of graffiti in our typographies and reinforced on the poster it would appeal more to a street-wise youthful citizen and would likely grab a younger person’s attention more than an adult’s. The ‘rebellious-youth’ stereotype would be an audience we’d try to appeal to due to their initial interest in resisting to conform to societies rules. We could target certain street wear shops and hangouts to display our posters and give out flyers around those spots which feeds directly to our chosen demographic.

Through facebook I can run ad campaigns and target our ideal audience through targeting users that are involved with similar facebook pages (eg OutinPerth magazine) that I think the event and the cause will appeal to most.

With Instagram and the interconnectivity that hashtags provide, audiences can interact with the event and spread the social discussion. An idea might be to repost or retweet on twitter what users have to say when using the hashtag online. This can give them a certain interactivity with the conversation and feel a greater sense toward helping fight the cause. We can also link the Instagram with the website and use these user images as a live information/ photo feed, Instead of re-uploading everything from one social platform to another.

Merchandise allows our artwork to stand out from the rest, especially when it comes to street art.

The interesting visuals will undoubtedly attract, engage viewers and entice curiosity. Although making money is not the purpose here, money made from this can go towards funding campaigns and events that support gay rights.

the world. Considering we have no one to fund our project, I plan to sell our products on existing websites rather than creating one, as that would be a cheaper option.

The following are some tests that I made using Photoshop. Using the logo and graffiti art designed by Francine, I pasted them onto sweaters, phone covers, and backpacks. These were just basic tests, for the actual store I will have a wider range of products and designs that would attract buyers and better communicate our message.

To find the perfect spot for this I first had to keep in mind what every member of the group was planning to do, the right spot needs to give them full creative freedom. Secondly I looked for a place that is large and can fit multiple people who would be coming to see the attraction. Lastly it needed to be in a central area which wouldn't be constantly crowded on a normal day.

The idea of this project is to raise awareness and bring support towards the LGBT community in order to give them the same rights we all have when it comes to marriage. Being homosexual doesn’t change the love you have for someone and therefore should not change the right you have of same-sex marriage. We hope to educate society on what needs to be changed in Australia and give the LGBT community, what is so rightfully theirs.

Partly still following this idea, I changed it to something I found suited the idea of acceptance more interacted with its environment.

This demonstrates flexibility, choice and equality.

The slow changing of the sun also symbolises how things wont instantly change and may not even seem like there's a difference being made.

However, every step of the way counts towards a better and brighter future.

The right to marry is the one significant difference between the legal treatment of same-sex and heterosexual relationships in Australia. Although same-sex marriage remains controversial, there has been a shift in community and political opinion and the issue is likely to be on the new Parliament’s agenda. Same-sex marriage has been on the political agenda in Australia for several years, as part of the broader debate about the legal recognition of same-sex relationships.

Advertising is really important for a business and can
persuade, promote or sell whatever is being sold, and in this case it’s a
festival, so the posters that I created had to reflect the type of atmosphere
and mood that we want our festival to project to the public.

The posters that I created are very colourful and vibrant
they give a very friendly and approachable feel to it

Posters
provide a logical and cost-effective way of communicating to a particular
target market. When placed correctly, attractive posters can lure nearby people
into a specific event and alert them of an upcoming product or service. Posters
have the ability to stick in viewers' minds and can be a great tool for small-
to medium-sized businesses to use to increase brand awareness. Posters are
cheaper than common forms of advertising such as print, radio and television.

People who are viewing posters
are already actively engaging in their surroundings. Whether they are standing
at a bus stop or lining up at the local nightclub, people are likely to notice
posters out of sheer boredom. A clever poster will have a call-to-action phrase
that propels the viewer to take action as soon as possible. This could be in
the form of making a phone call, visiting a shop or navigating to a website

The biggest
advantage of using posters is that they can be put just about anywhere and seen
by almost anyone. Posters can be strategically located to target a particular
market sector. For example, take-out restaurants might prefer to situate
posters near busy bus stops or train terminals to target hungry commuters.

When designing a poster the most important thing to take
into consideration is the emotional impact, the emotional impact a poster will
have on different individuals is an important element to consider. This element
should be used to bring positive results and should be taken into account so as
to avoid a counterproductive effect. A poster may not reach the personal
perception of every individual, but it is possible for them to cover certain
aspects that are directly related to a specific group. This is called
segmentation. For example, colours: colours do not have the same effect on men
and on women and this effect will also vary according to the different
cultures.
