Schools During The Depression

Schools were very minimal. Those that attended rather than help out on the farm sat in a one class building while one teacher taught all the students of every grade. Going to a school like this would make it near impossible to receive an actual good education. I cant imagine if our school functioned like this. Minimal insulation in the building would have made it very cold in the winter with the primary heat source being a stove/heater in the front of the class.

The Regina Riot

As the trek made its way to Ottawa the RCMP made the decision to bring it to a stop in Regina. When the trekkers were confronted in Regina the riot broke out. this picture shows the chaos in to streets. Its crazy to think that this happened on the streets I drive across everyday. It is crazy to think how much the city has changed since then and that many people living there may not know about this event that took place right where they walk.

This picture shows a large group of people boarding a train as they make the trek to Ottawa and demand better work. All ideas start somewhere and I wonder where this one started. I wonder how they paid for the train ride and if they didn't why was it allowed?

Relief Camps

In this picture you see rows of housing that is for workers on strike and without a job. The camps were made to support those who couldn't afford to do so themselves. Having to resort to life like this must have been very hard for families and somewhat embarrassing. I wonder who cared enough to put in the work and volunteer to make these camps a thing.

In this photo you see a truck driving away from a dust storm and in turn leaving his home and everything he has (excluding what he fit in the truck) behind. I wonder how the person was calm enough to take this photo considering back in that time cameras wouldn't have had the best zoom so the photographer must have been close. I wonder how the man in the truck turned out.

In this picture you see a bunch of people standing outside in the streets on a Tuesday. The first thing you notice is all the people standing outside. The setting is outside on a street on a Tuesday. I think this image was made to capture the amount of people standing outside on the street. I wonder why they were all standing outside.
