An Impersonating monster/demon.

Baseline Narrative:

As you enter your home lift to return home, you actually walked into an alternate reality where a monster stands at the other end of the path.

As a producer of this film, you will

A) Refine the script, You will see if our story script has any open gaps in the story. Make adjustments to the narrative structure.

B) Handle logistics: (can secure a location for our film, supervise the film, check with everyone is doing up their part.

C) Shadows, you will help create the shadow play in the film and lighting along side the art director to ensure consistency.

As the Sound Designer:

Find interesting soundFX(No Copyright)

Add fitting sounds to spice up the sequence.

Add some BG music on certain parts of the scenes(maybe the lift), add a foreign music(like another language to increase the eerieness).

The rest is up to the timing and magic of the sounds, Good Luck.

As the Art director, you will curate the design layouts and sceneplay.

Imagine the angles and shooting of the scene.

Im going to make the lighting very dark so will consult the producer about it alot.

Mr/Mrs Red enters the lift as he comes home after a long day of school and suddenly as he was about to leave the lift, the lift shakes and opens to an alternate reality. There he finds something or someone at the other end of the corridor. This entity seems to be copying his actions and as Mr/Mrs Red walks halfway towards him in curiosity, he/she stumbles upon a handwritten message warning behind the entity. Quickly, he realizes and quickly runs back to the lift to go back to his reality. The entity then runs towards him, trying to get a hold on him to kill him. WIll he/she make it in time?

this take place after scene 8 (spamming the lift button)

the door closes just before the entity enters, as the lift goes down, a sigh a relief leaves the Mr/Mrs however, the tension rises as the colour does revert back to normal, suddenly the entity can be seen behind Mr/Mrs and grabs his/her neck/sholder/microwave etc. the scene cuts to the lift entrance on the ground floor, with normal colours and calm ambience. However, when the lift reaches the floor and the doors open, no one is inside, and the red shirt that Mr/Mrs was wearing can be seen on the lift floor

Starting

Mr/Mrs Red enters the lift and patiently waits for his/her level.

Suddenly as the lift door was about to open, the lift suddenly shook violently which Mr/Mrs Red struggles to maintain his/her balance.

As Mr/Mrs Red walks out of the lift thinking he/she is in his/her reality, Mr/Mrs Red sees a humanoid entity waiting for him/her like it’s awaiting for his/her arrival.

The entity stands still as a rock as Mr/Mrs Red is confused on why it's staring at him/her.

Middle

Mr/Mrs Red waves at the entity to see if it is just another human being, the entity waves back so Mr/Mrs Red thinks it might just be some passerby. He/She felt something wasn’t right but brushed it off and starts to approach the entity.

As Mr/Mrs Red starts getting closer to the entity, he/she realizes there is a handwritten sign behind the entity that says “DON'T TRUST IT. RUN.” and in a state of terror, Mr/Mrs Red starts to run back to the lift as fast as he/she can and the entity starts to chase after him.

Ending

As Mr/Mrs Red manages to run back to the lift and spam the close button, he/she managed to close the door shut in front of the entity while breathing heavily.

The entity stares at him/her as the lift goes down.

Mr/Mrs Red let out a sign of relief thinking he/she is gone from the entity until suddenly, The entity grabs Mr/Mrs Red neck from behind.

The scene cuts to the front entrance of the lift as it reaches the ground floor.

The lift doors opens and there is no one inside but a red shirt that Mr/Mrs Red wore can be seen on the lift floor.

We inputted our reflections on the presentation deck.

We finished uploading our final video with count down.

Everyone cooperated well to the finale of our production and we were thus able to complete our ica-2 earlier than anticipated (awesome work everyone :) )

We scraped off a bit for the 5 minute mark ( 5minutes 40 seconds ish?)

Overall, our presentation was pretty well presented. Apparently the thank you slide was the scariest scene.

Much appreciation for our awesome team efforts and my personal gratitude sending to Jodie, Jayden and Shaista for the past 6 weeks of non-stop collaboration!

As the Sound Designer, all the video's sound effects were curated by him and edited into the film by him in his own time. On top of that, he never did fail to come for a reshooting day and was consistently in costume.

Jayden demonstrated great consistency in his duties and humility. Thanks to him, we were quickly able to finish each of our weekly tasks in time in spite of all our other modular assignments.

In addition, he was very active on group online discussions and ensured to provide alternatives towards construction of our story flow and scenes.

Hence, Jayden was a great team member, almost akin to a leader too. To each their own, all of us were leading in our roles and Jayden executed his duties beyond traditional standards.

Jodie/Yun Juan was a key player in our team's collaoration. As someone with past experience in filmmaking, she not only was able to add onto our team's productivity but elevated it. Combining her past skills from previous institutionary learnings, she was able to go above and beyond and practice with a separate software (adobe after effects).

She took great initative to being our film's main protagonist and acted out all the scenes flawless through rigorous reshoots despite not having prior acting expertise.

Jodie also coordinated our editing and inputs as the main editor and spent whole days editing it out to make our film as qualifiable as quality counts it to be.

Jodie never failed to appear in reshoots in the same costume wear and was willing to actively reply to my messages and group member's queries on whatsapp (she replies exceptionally fast) despite having schedule-packed modules on her clock.

All in all, she truly played a tedious role super effectively efficiently and I look forward to working with her again should the tides come to it.

As the group's producer and camera-man, Shaista took great initative in capturing our scenes despite strenuous gymnastics one has to go through as a film camera-man. Shaista was also able to effectively come for every one of our video shooting days and demonstrated high-levels of humility and understanding maturity as a team member. As the producer, she took the action of creating for us a moodboard and also sighted for locations for filming. Her creative ideas also gave us better closure on how we should craft and refine our video film, frequently suggesting action scenes we could add and camera composition.

Shaista was truly a great team member to collaborate with as she was only ever receving of group discussions and consolidations and never imposed any flair for disagreements to occur. In conclusion, Shaista consistently came up for her duties and provided a professional attitude throughtout the past 6 weeks of colalboration and I am truly grateful to have worked along her in this ICA.

After creating the first draft, the video was handed over to me as I was the Sound Designer. I added a lot of sounds ranging from the shoe steps, lift door closing and opening, the ambience, jumpscare sounds, button mashing and the ending music

After many hours of filming, it was time to put together the rough cut for the film. I faced some issues in Premiere Pro about framing errors but as i brought it back home and finish editing the video a few days later it seemed fine which was weird to me i even asked Ms Sherlyn for help on it. I also split up our task for the edit like asking Ming Yang to help trim down the video to 2 minutes as it exceeded that time limit and also asking Jayden to help put in a bit of the sound effects for the film.

I then did color grading when Jayden passed me the files with the trimmed and sound effects added into that working file. The color grading didn't take as long as i thought it would be as this is horror and it was a little bit more easier to do in my opinion. I also did the bloodied text on the wall using After Effects and imported it into Premiere Pro. I then send in the first draft to the group chat to have feedbacks on what i can improve better and Ming Yang gave me feedback and changed it and resend it and he gave me the green line to submit it for our milestone 3.

Group 10 gave us feedback on how we should do fast paced editing for the chase scene. Whereas Ms Sherlyn said i should walk more naturally for the walking scene at the start and we also had to make Jayden's running scene much more scarier than goofy looking. We also agreed on redoing the jumpscare scene that appears after the bloodied wall text.

We then met up on the same week to retake some scenes like the chase scene, jumpscare scene, me looking at the wall with the bloodied text and the ear ringing scene. I was the camera man for some of the scenes as Shaista was running late.

I then put in all the new videos we reshoot and send in the working file for my group mates to edit in their own style and Ming Yang did a really good job for the jumpscare scene so we decided to keep that in for the film. I then did a little bit more changes and exported the video out to submit for draft 2.

With this feedback we decided to reshoot it next week as since we are ahead of schedule, we could focus on our other works first.

I also started doing our Title Sequence on After Effects and exported it and placed it in into my edit.

As i got the videos in the google drive, i wasted no time and finished up the final edit for Week 17. Jayden had added more sound effects last week and gave me the working file for it and so last week we also discussed that we have the lift lights flicker and then the lift breaks down and goes dark to give the scary effect. I then ask Jayden if he had a sound effect for a woman scream and he gave it to me which was perfect for the edit. I then finished the edit and put in my working files for Jayden to use as we remembered we needed to change the chase scene music to be more scarier and Jayden did a great job on it.

As he sent the final edit, i added the countdown for the starting and then uploaded the final video onto Youtube unlisted and put it into our slides. I also added in my reflections and arranged the slides a bit to make it look nicer.

I'm happy to how far we have come! I definitely learnt new things and also strengthen my skills along the way too! Ming Yang, Jayden and Shaista were so fun to work with for this project good job guys!

While showcasing the video with the class, Group 10 was given the chance to give us feedback from a viewer standpoint.

The feedback given was that the chase scene was too drawn out, causing the fear factor to quickly die out, so we were suggested to do fast paced editing, with multiple jumps to multiple scenes to keep the chase scene dramatic.

Other than various small details such as Jodie's walking needing to be more natural, the big change that we needed to fix was the way we presented the chase scene, as it was too drawn out, and the way the Entity (Me) was running, came out to be more humorous than scary. So we needed to head back to the drawing board for that part.

We quickly rectified the above mentioned parts by meeting up at the recording location in the same week and proceeded to rerecord the various scenes that need to be replaced, along with new ideas that we thought of during the consultation.

Once we were done we headed back home and repeated the editing process by taking turns editing the Premier file, each of us doing our roles in the group: Jodie fitting all the videos together while i sourced, cropped and arranged the sound files.

In this draft, the chase scene was changed to have multiple Entity movement scenes, from walking, running, standing and teleporting. Other scenes such as Mrs Red running, looking at the wall, mashing lift buttons and longer walking clips were also changed.

With the new draft, came new feedback. The lecturers commented about how after running into the lift, Mrs Red looked too calm. We also received comments on how the new movement of the Entity being too random and need to be rearranged to look more cohesive and neat.

With the new feedback, we headed back to the recording location the following week to record the last few clips to finish off our video.

We retook the button mashing scene to make it look much more desperate and alarming, as well as the lift scare scene to make Mrs red look more exhausted and relieved, only to be jump scared again by the Entity.

While editing at night, Jodie also requested a sound file of a muffled girl screaming to be added into the lift scene, to which I provided quickly. Afterwards when the file was handed over to me, I added another layer of music during the chase scene to make it more dramatic and scary.

Once everything was done, i exported the video and handed it over to Jodie, where she added the countdown at the start of the video and posted it into the project submission page.

We then started to work on the slides, where we recycled our old slides and added our individual reflections to the end of the slides. We also styled the slide to make it look nicer as well.

While we were the last group to present, we did not lose morale after seeing everyone else's presentation and presented our video with confidence.

With the maximum presentation duration of 5mins, we overshot a little as we clocked in at around 5 mins and 35 secs.

Overall, I am satisfied with how I performed in both the project and the presentation. I have learnt new things throughout the project, from learning Adobe Premier, to learning sound theory and layering, which will help me with my future endeavors!
