         <description><![CDATA[<div>On <strong>August 2, 1964</strong>, gunboats of North Vietnam allegedly fired on ships of the United States Navy stationed in the GULF OF TONKIN<strong>.</strong> In <strong>February 1965</strong>, the United States began a long program of sustained bombing of North Vietnamese targets known as <strong>OPERATION ROLLING THUNDER</strong>. These are just some examples that lead to the escalation of the Vietnam war. All this death it was a matter of time in which both parties retaliated.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Tet Offensive</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Tet offensive was a series of coordinated attacks on more than 100 cities and outposts in South Vietnam. The offensive was an attempt to form a rebellion among the South Vietnamese. In Vietnam they have a holiday to celebrate the Lunar new year and on this date is when the series of attacks began. In previous years, the holiday had been the occasion for an informal truce in the war in Vietnam between North and South Vietnam (along with there communist allies, the Viet cong). As these attacks began, The North communist Vietnamese wanted were hoping to force the U.S. out of the South by doing this supriz attack.</div>]]></description>

Songs that sang about going home helped them hold on to there dream of going home to see their loved ones. </div>]]></description>

Soldiers suffered from the climate,wild life, and terrain. They also suffered from diseases, and trenches foot. Many of these soldiers lift home and never cam back.</div>]]></description>
