my drumsticks and am waiting for them to dry more before carving. i slipped and scored everything and stuck it down. i think i am going to have issues carving into the drumsticks since it is stuck on the board now but we will see how that goes. i also smoothed the blank spaces of my wall relief. there's a bit of a gap between the two pooris but i am working to make sure the top one is firmly blossom mug with a flower filled branch circling the ring of the mug. i also am thinking about curving the ring on the mug to make soft flower petals. i have not decided on if the mug should be a blocked flower petal or a tree branch/trunk. for this project, i would also need to work on support rails for the branch to sit a little bit above the ring and small details like the flowers. below rolled out on wednesday, but until then i am going to work on my sculptural pieces. i wanted to first see how i was going to make my trunk/branches. i made a mini version and found it easy to wind up the coiled clay, however, this was hard to do with bigger coils. i think i am going to carve in my trunk instead. i also worked on making a petal handle. i want to get a fine edge cutting tool or a knife to be able to make sharper cuts i can then soften out. i was satisfied with a shape of the petal, but made the outside parts to square and it ended up looking more like a heart. ]]> 2021-04-20
