         <title>EYE CONTACT</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In countries such as China and Japan, eye contact is not considered an essential to social interaction, instead it is often considered inappropriate. In such an authoritarian culture, it is believed that subordinates shouldn’t make steady eye contact with their superiors.</div><div>For example, students are discouraged from making eye contact with their professors, as it can be interpreted as a sign of disrespect. Similarly a daughter will point her eyes downwards when her father is speaking to her, as a sign of politeness and respect.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>TONE OF VOICE</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mandarin Chinese is a tonal language. In order to differentiate meaning, the same syllable can be pronounced with different tones. Mandarin's tones give it a very distinctive quality, but the tones can also be a source of miscommunication if not given due attention.<br>Mandarin is said to have four main tones and one neutral tone (or, as some say, five tones). Each tone has a distinctive pitch contour which can be graphed using the Chinese 5-level system.Cultural body language in China<br>Differences in cultural body language are an important part of non verbal communication.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

It also includes music produced by people of Chinese origin in some territories outside mainland China using traditional Chinese instruments or in the Chinese language. It covers a highly diverse range of music from the traditional to the modern. These further developed into various forms of music through succeeding dynasties, producing the rich heritage of music that is part of the Chinese cultural landscape today. Chinese music continues to evolve in the modern times, and more contemporary forms have also emerged.</div>]]></description>

         <title>BODY LANGUAGE</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When two Chinese people meet, they will shake hands with one another (usually using the right hand). They usually don't like being touched by strangers. They don't like hug, lock arms, back slap or make any body contact. This is very different from American people.</div><div>Clicking fingers or whistling is considered rude in China. And never put feet on a desk or chair. If you need to point, please point with an open hand. Never point with your index finger. </div><div>Finally Chinese people they don't use their feet to gesture or move or touch other objects (feet are considered lowly and dirty).</div>]]></description>

There are annual events like Chinese New Year, the Lantern Festival, the Qingming (Tomb Sweeping) Festival, Double Seven Festival, and the Winter Solstice.<br>The picture below is taken when I introduced the Chinese New Year to my daughter's class.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>National surveys conducted in the early 21st century estimated that some 80% of the population of China, that is more than a billion people, practise some kind of Chinese folk religion or Taoism; 10–16% are Buddhists; 2–3% are Christians; and 1–2% are Muslims. Folk religious movements of salvation constitute 2–3% to 13% of the population, while many in the intellectual class adhere to Confucianism as a religious identity. In addition, ethnic minority groups practise distinctive religions, including Tibetan Buddhism, and Islam among the Hui and Uyghur peoples.</div>]]></description>
